  1. STAFFORD MECHANICS SHOW SET TO CELEBRATE 20TH YEAR

    Posted on

IT is THE place to be for a weekend of motorcycle sights, engine sounds and petrol smells, and once again one of the UK’s largest and most popular bike shows is gearing up for action as it prepares to celebrate a significant landmark.

The Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show will take place this coming October 19-20, and tens of thousands of visitors are set to descend on Stafford County Showground for the 20th running of this massive event.

Show manager Nick Mowbray commented: “Now moving into its third decade, the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show grows in popularity every year and with a jam-packed weekend in prospect, we are sure that 2013 is going to prove to be as big a hit as always.”

As the culmination of the Classic Bike Shows’ calendar, the event will see the seven Best in Show winners from throughout the year come together to determine which can be called the best of the best.

And, with more than 70 club stands and dozens of private entries, thousands of bikes will be showcased with focus on the machines of the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

To further celebrate this era, the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show will welcome French racing legend, and 1984 250cc world champion, Christian Sarron as its special guest of honour.

2013 will also mark a first for the event, with gravity-defying stuntman Steve Colley wowing the crowds in the main ring.

“This is the first time we have utilised the main ring at the showground for an attraction such as this,” added Nick.

“The seating there has recently undergone extensive refurbishment, and it will provide a fantastic location for a simply stunning display.”

As well as this superb entertainment, the show will feature its renowned array of autojumble and trade stands, the Classic Racer Grand Prix Paddock and the ever-popular Bonhams auction.

Nick, explaining that 2013 will see Yamaha mark the anniversary of the FS1E, continued: “You literally will not be able to move without coming across a memorable machine from days gone by.

“In a special year for this era of motorcycling, the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show is going to be a weekend of celebration for the biker who began on a ‘fizzy’”.

The show takes place on Saturday, October 19 (9am – 6pm) and Sunday, October 20 (9am – 5pm), with advance one-day tickets costing £10 for adults, £3 for children and £9 for senior citizens.

  2. 3rd Vale Royal Classic Car & Motorcycle Show

    Posted on

This event ran for the first time in September 2012 and was one of the most successful first time events we have ever organised in terms of vehicle entries.

Following this first event we also ran in May 2013 and also attracted in excess of 600 classic vehicles for display. Unfortunately on both occasions the weather was not too kind to us with a grey day and cold wind in the morning followed by rain in the afternoon. Again we have had a fantastic uptake of display cars for August and it would be nice if we had the weather to go with the display. We expect to see lots of early pre-1950 vehicles such as Singer, Morris, Riley, Rover and Humber, through to modern day classics such as MG, Porsche, TVR and Mercedes along with BSA’s, Norton’s and Velocettes in the classic bike section.

There will be expert commentary in the arena and a concours competition taking place throughout the day. With in excess of 400 vehicles booked into display, we are anticipating this once again to be an excellent show.

Various clubs have booked stands for this event including the Cheshire Classic Car Club, Jaguar Enthusiasts, Retrobevets, MCNW, Potteries & South and many more.

Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the show but also have a walk around the garden which hosts a plant fair and if they wish have a look round Arley Hall (by separate admission). Catering facilities will be available at the event. Parking is free and dogs are welcome so long as they remain on a lead.

  3. The Thankful Villages Run starts this Saturday

    Posted on

A nine-day charity ride-out to all 51 villages in the UK who had all their soldiers return home alive at the end of the Great War in 1918 and we want you to take part by joining for part or all of the ride!

The run, which starts this Saturday (ending 4th August), is the brainchild of Triumph owners Dougie Bancroft and Medwyn Parry and appropriately aims to raise £51,000 for the Royal British Legion.

Triumph, who supplied 30,000 motorcycles to the allied forces during WW1, have loaned two, bespoke liveried Trophys to the duo, to enable them to undertake this historic tour.

The bikes have now been collected, the route planned, the GPS, tracker and comms fitted, now all that’s left to do is invite you to join the Thankful Villages Run.

Pick as much or little of the route as you like and follow the two Triumph Trophys between the Thankful Villages. Riders who join the ride are asked to donate a minimum £5 towards the Royal British Legion and can do this by texting ‘THVR51 £5’ to 70070, via the website or in cash on the day.

Further details, including the complete village-by-village schedule, are available on the Thankful Village Run website.

Including Sports Car Sunday, Sunday 28th July 2013

For many years we ran this event as Sports Car Sunday but in the last couple of years the scope of the event has been widened out to include all classic cars and bikes. Following the success of the event at Capesthorne on the Sunday of the late May Bank holiday we are returning to this Cheshire venue in July with over 500 classic cars and bikes expected to be on display.

Capesthorne Hall itself is a distinctive Jacobean style house with its Georgian Chapel and delightful gardens and lakes, set in over 100 acres of parkland. There will be an all day concours competition and prizes available with live expert commentary from the arena and catering options provided within the show area.

Clubs in attendance will be Stoke on Trent CC, Cheshire Classic Car Club, The Retrobevets, The Stag Owners Club, Potteries & South and many more, as well as a good range mix of trade and autojumble stands selling new parts, second hand spares, specialist services and gifts.

Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the show and also have access to the park and formal gardens; with an additional £2 to pay into the house and have a look around and admire its historic beauty. Parking is free and dogs are welcome on leads.

  5. Heritage Motor Centre to host brand new "Classic post-war Motorcycle Show"

Heritage Motor Centre to host brand new "Classic post-war Motorcycle Show"

The Heritage Motor Centre is launching a brand new show this year for enthusiasts of postwar 1945 motorcycles.

The “Classic post-war Motorcycle Show” will take place on Sunday 25 August and is expected to attract over 700 bikes from a host of motorcycle clubs and private individuals. Although the HMC currently organises the annual nostalgic Banbury Run for pre-1931 motorcycles & 3 wheelers, it appeared there was a gap in the events calendar to showcase motorcycles from the post war era.

In addition to the display of these marvelous machines including BSA, Triumph, Matchless, Norton, Kawasaki and Yamaha, visitors can also chat about biking experiences with fellow bikers plus wander around a bike jumble and trade stands as well as enjoying refreshments and a live band.

Tom Caren, Show Manager for the Heritage Motor Centre stated “We are delighted to be launching a new show to showcase post-war motorcycles.  The post-war classic motorcycle scene is a popular area for enthusiasts of both British and foreign motorcycles. With over 700 bikes on display, these nostalgic machines will be a fantastic spectacle to admire plus being a great day out to meet other like-minded enthusiasts!”

Onsite camping is available on the Saturday night and visitors are advised to enquire at the time of booking. Motorcycle entries are £7 per person. Spectator prices are £12 for Adults, £10 for Concessions, £8 for Children (Age 5-16) and under 5’s are free. For advanced tickets please call 01926 645029.
