Why are you different from other websites?
Our website is regularly maintained and updated and we strive to include information and businesses which Bikers are genuinely interested in. It is a collection of events, latest news, club links, competitions, along with listings of relevant businesses and is on one very user friendly site, with most areas of the website found in two or three clicks.

We are constantly marketing THE BIKER GUIDE® to the Biker community in the UK, Europe and beyond, to increase awareness, visitors and ultimately, the response for everyone involved.

With a large on-line audience, of approximately 3,450* each day, many returning on a daily and weekly basis. Our visitors are extremely important to us and we welcome feedback, run regular competitions and are passionate about including genuine Biker friendly businesses... In fact we have even turned down bookings as we felt it did not fit the criteria!

We pride ourselves on being a niche website, which includes quality businesses who would like to attract the Motorcycle Community to them. We are not interested in overloading the website with lots and lots of places or businesses all offering a similar service, in fact we want to include quality links rather than quantity!

As we do not overload the website with lots of places in the same area, our rates reflect this. We also spend a lot of money on the promotion of the website, via various means, including adverts in other printed media, other websites, Google Adwords, sending booklets and promotional items to Cafes, Events and Motorcycle Clubs.

As experienced copy writers we can either prepare the listing for you and will always check your listing before including it onto the website. We will add information (if needed) to enhance your advertisement and to ultimately gain you the best response. We will not just upload a listing without checking it for you.

We will also send you out marketing tips to increase your seo and website visitors, such as Hits v Visitors, Contact Us page, Naming photographs and Guest Comments.

ADVERTISING - THE DIRECTORY

Why should I consider advertising with THE BIKER GUIDE® website?

THE BIKER GUIDE® website is a very cost effective method of advertising to the Biking community. We have many years experience of promoting, advertising and marketing companies and brands, with both national newspapers and smaller niche publications.

By advertising with us you are guaranteed that you are establishing another excellent presence on the web for your business. By submitting your details to THE BIKER GUIDE®, your business will be promoted directly into the homes of people who are already interested in the Biker - Motorcycle community and so are more likely to choose places listed with us than search the world wide web for such places.

We include lots of information which is of interest to the Bikers, such as extensive event listings, news, club links and competitions, along with promoting THE BIKER GUIDE® brand constantly through a variety of means including sponsoring trophies, produced a BIKERS WELCOME sticker for our clients, various facebook groups, produced THE BIKER CALENDAR 2011, became affiliated to NABD, had an ongoing marketing campaign online, given away many cards, prizes and t's... in fact we do not stop promoting the website!

By providing a first class service and by steering visitors to you, we are confident that you will gain a response and make Bikers aware of you and your business.

We will always be promoting this website direct to Bikers both through the internet and also directly at Bike shows, Rallies, through Bike Clubs and through a variety of other means and will not just be reliant on search engines, so that we are always working to ensure that everyone involved gets the ultimate response.

Check out our advertise section for further details:

I want to include my business, how do I do that?

We have created THE BIKER GUIDE® website to bring together a collection of information specifically for the Biker Community such as Rallies, Shows, News, Competitions, with an extensive business directory included.

As we promote the website direct to the Biker Market and are a trusted source of information, the directory is a paid for area of the site, for all who are interested in obtaining the Biker £. We offer rates from only £95 for 12 months, along with various packages and even tailor made packages. If something is possible, we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

All advertising on THE BIKER GUIDE, must be submitted via the form.

Click here to include your accommodation or business.

See the section on how to advertise: Or Buy a listing here:

If you would prefer us to put together your listing, let us know when you submit the form.

How can I get my website and company listed in the directory?

In the top menu click the advertise link and follow the instructions. Here you can fill in your details of your preferred advertising option via the on-line forms or if you would prefer we can do the final copy for you.

Tip: Before submitting your listing find the most relevant category to your website. This way you can make sure that your information will be submitted to the right category.

Can I list my services in more than one category?

Yes. If your company warrants being included in more than one of the categories, then we would advise you to take multiple listings in each of the relevant sections. For example, Pubs with rooms tend to be included in both the Biker Friendly Accommodation relevant section along with the Biker Friendly pubs section. We offer discounted rates for multi-listings.

What can I do if I cannot find a relevant category?

We are always open to new ideas, so e-mail us your suggestion and we do our upmost to accommodate your needs and requests.

How do I pay for an advertisement?

We will invoice you when the listing is live, to make payment by either bank transfer, paypal or card, whichever you prefer. Our payment terms are 14 days from any advert being live and 7 days for articles and e-shots.

Do I have to use Paypal or can I pay by alternative methods?

Yes, we can accept cheques.

What are the payment terms when I purchase an advertisement?

Some companies will only include listing when payment is received, however we are more trusting than that and hope our clients appreciate this. Payment terms are 14 days from when your advertisement is live and 7 days for events, articles and e-shots.

Any none payments of any type of advert, agreed by yourself either by sending through a form or by agreement via the telephone, including listings, printed adverts, e-shots, links etc, that have a fee attached, may be forwarded to a debt collecting agency if they remain unpaid.

Can I cancel?

Once we have an agreement to an any form of advert, with ourselves, that have a fee attached there is no option to cancel.

We pride ourselves on the work that we will do in preparing and researching for any client, whether that be on-line or in print. Once a client has agreed to any form of advertising we will prepare and secure your space, which sometimes means that we do not contact any other similar style of business to yourself and also that we turn down bookings as space in printed matter is filled.

This relates to any form of advertising with us (on-line, in print and e-shots). In the case of e-shots once we have the booking we will plan and add the information to our schedule and in the case of a cancelled event, we continue to include the information with a cancelled notice.

Making multiple requests for changes in any form of advertising, after the initial 48 hours of publishing, may be refused. This includes requests for indexing and/or invoice, may incur a £10 fee.

For articles published onto the website, we will publish articles as supplied, sometimes with a spelling amendment.

We usually see our content included on Google within the month, however for those wanting articles to be 'indexed' we cannot guarantee this and cannot force this to be done, as this may have a detrimental effect to the article and our website.

Any prerequisites need to be confirmed prior to booking.

Once we have published an article payment is due and we cannot cancel the invoice.
We can make an amendment within the first 48 hours of publication, but cannot make multipule amendments nor change the supplied link to another. Any such requests for changes and a new link, will incur a £10 fee per change.
Making multiple requests for changes in the article, requests for indexing and/or invoice, may incur a £10 fee.

'If' a client does not renew, we may leave the text (part of or whole) on the website if we deem it to be of relevant information to our visitors. We may adapt the text and/or images for any updated information we have.

Can I get a refund?

Sometimes an event may be cancelled or a business may close within the advertising time booked and agreeded.

The main work we do is in setting up the initial advertisement and the rate (monthly for events and 12/24 months for all others) reflect this. With this in mind we cannot offer a refund on cancelled events and/or early closure of a business.

When we have published an article and payment is made, we cannot cancel.

See above the information on Can I cancel, as the same applies.

For items purchased in the shop - We cannot offer refunds as the pricing is based on current postage, packaging and the aim is to send it out in the most cost effective way.

Do you offer free listings?

THE BIKER GUIDE® website brings together a collection of information specifically for the Biker Community, with an extensive business directory included. This concept (as far as we are aware) has not been put together before, yet is one that has been much needed.

The website is promoted to the Biker Community, through a variety of means such as banners, business cards, social media and more, so that advertisers can gain new customers (circa 3,450* visitors a day) and similar to a printed magazine, where advertising is paid for, as the revenue gained from our advertisers is the revenue generated for our business. So before you think of asking us for a 'free' listing, ask yourself - would you offer a free nights stay in your hotel, a free meal, a free bike to someone...

We have quite clear advertising options on the website and do not offer web-link exchanges... we are a business not a charity.

Do you negotiate the prices?

We believe that it is unfair to offer discount to one person and none to another, just because someone asks... So we will just say no and even turn down a booking rather than take a discounted rate, which is unfair on a fellow advertiser and we believe wrong.

In fact there is a story told, which says that when Sharon Osbourne was in negotiation with the producers of The Osbourne Show, when they tried to drop the price she asked for,,she increased the amount she wanted and did so until the producer gave up realising they could not win!

What is genuine Biker Friendly Accommodation?

As Bikers ourselves it is very important for us to include information on Genuine Biker Friendly Accommodation, which offer something to the owner of a Motorcycle!

In the main this means you are happy to accept the owners of Motorbikes at your establishment. This may seem strange to some of you, however it is a sad fact that some people think that Bikers will tear up the beds, cause havoc and terrorise... The reality is the adverage Biker is middle-aged and middle-class, has a higher than average income and money to spend on life! And as a few of our clients have mentioned, they will leave the place as they found it... nice and tidy!

We include in all listings information about the parking. Secure, covered, ground anchors, cctv and on-street... whichever it is we include it.

How to purchase an advert?

The easiest way is to fill in the on-line forms, where you can choose your preferred options there. If you prefer we can prepare a suggested listing for you.

You can also purchase a listing here and supply us with the copy or contact us, with your request and we can prepare a suggested listing for you.

ADVERTISING - THE BOOKLET
Listening to the requests of our visitors and customers, we now produce a yearly printed booklet, in association with the THE BIKER GUIDE® website.

On our travels to many Motorcycle events, we have noticed that there is no such printed booklet being distributed within the Biker Community and so we now produce one and distribute it for free at many Motorcycle events, such as Rallies, Shows, Meets, cafes and through a variety of other means, so that all involved get the ultimate response.

A modern, well designed and easy to use A5 booklet, ideal, as a reference tool when planning, touring or travelling and in its easy to use and carry format, great to take on any Motorcycle!

The booklet is an annual publication, produced in the summer and distributed throughout the year at various shows, rallies and events, at many meeting places, cafes and dealerships, sent direct to some clubs and available for free (just the p&p to pay) on the website. It is very popular and has fast become a much wanted, used and kept item for any Biker, especially when out on the road... We have every faith that it will continue to be as popular as our website.

Update 2024

We are not planning to produce another edition of the printed booklet for a few reasons.

We distributed the booklet by various means, such as direct posting, along many sent to cafes and events across the country.

We cannot guarantee these distribution points for the future, along with the raise in the cost of postage, so making the cost of distribution, along with many other costs so much extra, that the production is not possible for us.

We would like to thank everyone that has supported and been involved with the printed booklet... all 9 editions!

WEBSITE INFORMATION

When was the website launched?
THE BIKER GUIDE® began at the start of 2009 and was born out of frustration as we felt that there was not one website where a Biker can go in the UK to get information on Rallies, Biker Friendly accommodation, camping, meeting places, clothing and much, much more...

Where do our visitors come from?
THE BIKER GUIDE® has an on-going marketing campaign direct to Bikers throughout the UK and Europe, to increase our visitors so that everyone involved with thebikerguide.co.uk will gain the utmost response. This includes sponsoring trophies, producing a BIKERS WELCOME sticker for our clients, various facebook groups, THE BIKER CALENDAR 2011, we are affiliated to NABD, given away many cards, prizes and t's... in fact we do not stop promoting the website! We also have received press coverage.

THE BIKER CALENDAR, produced for 2010 and 2011 , was found at many Biker cafes, pubs and meeting places throughout the UK. We donated £1 from every Calendar sold to NABD, which we handed over at Nabdness 19, here.

We produced the 1st of THE BIKER GUIDE® booklet in the summer of 2011, at the request of our visitors and clients. A printed small booklet, similar to the website and distributed for free at shows, rallies and events, meeting places, sent direct to enthusiasts and available for free (just the p&p to pay) via the website. A hugh success and now a regular yearly publication.

We have forged strong links with many Motorcycle Clubs and sponsored 'Best Club Turnout' trophies:

How do I know that THE BIKER GUIDE® is sending my site traffic?
The best way to check which sites you advertise with are sending you traffic is to install Google Analytics on to your website. This is free and easy to set up and is invaluable when finding out which sites are sending you traffic. This is especially important when you are paying many sites to advertise your business allowing you to track visitors.

How does the website you advertise with rank on the www? As easy way to check - See more here

Can I include photographs on the website?
Not on the website, but through the group on www.facebook.com/groups/thebikerguide... see you there!

We encourage visitors to upload photographs for others to see and be inspired by on the facebook group here. Any pictures which are posted onto the facebook page and/or group may be used by THE BIKER GUIDE on the website and/or within the printed booklet. Please only post pictures if you are happy for them to be shared.
Also ensure any images that are included on our facebook page/group and/or sent to us in an email are owned by you. We cannot be held responsible for images sent to us for inclusion that are owned by another.

COMPETITIONS

Can I be included in the Competitions section?

We run regular competitions on the website for holidays at Biker Friendly places, tickets to events, clothing, books and more... In fact any prize which would be of interest to our visitors.

The competition section offers our clients a great way to get extra exposure to their current advertising package. Space within the competition pages is planned in advance and is offered to clients of THE BIKER GUIDE®.

If you would like to offer a prize, make sure we have at least 6 weeks notice and just send us an e-mail with what you would like to offer as a prize and we will get back to you.

Competitions for events

Due to the high level of organisers who are asking for us to promote their event via a competition and due to the limited amount of competitions we can offer at any one time, we prioritise who we can indeed include as a competition starting with those who choose extra promoting with us such as the premium listing and/or the e-shot service.

For anyone who shows an interest (marked on the form) and would like to offer tickets as a prize, if we can include you we will contact you prior to the competition and will require the tickets to be sent to us (by email) so that we can send the winners the prize direct from us. It is also worth noting that we plan the competitions throughout the year and they are usually planned 6 - 8 weeks in advance. The standard promoting of an event will be on the website (via the competitions page) and also on our facebook page

EVENT LISTINGS

How do I get details of my Rally, Ride-out and show on thebikerguide?
Simply e-mail us with your details via the on-line form. Please note we do not include flyers as the main details of the event, as they are not be picked up by search engines, hence the text format.

We do offer premium listings at an extra cost, which can be ticked on the form when sending through an event. This option includes the inclusion of a flyer/artwork for an event, for the top of the month (in date order) and also within the main section for the month.

PRESS RELEASES

How do I get my press release included on the website?

We welcome press releases for any Motorcycle related news sent in text format, within the body of the e-mail to [email protected]. Please note due to security reasons we do not accept and/or publish press releases that are sent as an attachment. All advertisers are also very welcome to send in press releases and product news for editorial purposes.

For help and guideance on how to put together press releases and how to send for publication, see these articles on The reasons why your press release isn't getting published and Common mistakes with press releases and how to avoid them.

News articles

We may include on the section articles sent to us from others, that include information that we deem as being interesting.

REVIEW PRODUCTS
We are always happy to receive products to evaluate or give away as prizes. Simply email us with the details.

THE BIKER GUIDE® on facebook

We have large facebook group for THE BIKER GUIDE®, for Biker Friendly Places and also a fan page, where you can follow us. We encourage people to use the pages as a mini forum, without the politics that can exist within those. For example, you can join the group, ask a question, post information, make friends, etc, without any rules or constraints. All we ask is to keep it Biker related.

We encourage visitors to upload photoes for others to see and be inspired by. Any pictures which are posted onto the facebook page and/or group may be used on the website and/or within the printed booklet.
Please only post pictures if you are happy for them to be shared.

Also ensure any images that are included on our facebook page/group and/or sent to us in an email are owned by you. We cannot be held responsible for images sent to us for inclusion that are owned by another.

Pages for businesses not included with THE BIKER GUIDE as an advertiser, are declined. We ask advertisers to refrain from multi-posting on the group. Multi-posting would be more than once a month and then a new message, ideally not sales related.

For the question - If I cancel my advertising with THE BIKER GUIDE, can I continue to promte my buisness on your facebook groups?

As stated in the rules of the group -
We politely ask businesses who do not advertise with us, to consider placing an advert, as promoting on here, is like us staying with you and/or eating for free.

We will remove a page for a business that is no longer an advertiser with us.

THE BIKER GUIDE® on twitter

As you follow people on twitter that you find interesting, we have chosen to not have a twitter account @ THE BIKER GUIDE®. Why, you may ask? Well predominately, we do not have a large enough ego to think that people would find us that interesting to follow! Also we encourage people to get out on their Motorcycles, rather than sit at home looking at what others are doing.

In fact, before we made this decision we wanted to check if our visitors were fans of twitter, so during 2012 we asked many of our visitors if they use social media and found that the majority now use facebook, with a very small % active on twitter. We guess (hope) that Bikers continue to be active with their hobby rather than voyeurs.

Do you have a forum?

When we started THE BIKER GUIDE® in 2009, we did have a forum, however in the following 18 months we found that most people were moving towards facebook and away from forums. This seemed to be mainly because of the many rules that are on most forums when you first join before you can ask simply question, the many keyboard warriors that are the admins on them, the in-house bullying of new members who are treated with suspision with everything they type and also that they are time consuming (join, be approved, post 10 times to be accepted, grovel to 30 of the 'top people' and then ask "I want to find a Biker Friendly place to stay in Cumbria, can anyone help?" without 25 messages of abuse, etc...).

So in 2011 we disabled the forum to build on the facebook groups and page. This has proved to be very succesful where we now have over 33,000 people joining in the banter. We try to sit on the fence of the groups and let people post and interact with each other... However we jump off the fence (you get a dint in your bum if you sit there too long!) to delete spam, shameless multipule plugs of a business/event and other non-related stuff.

Advertising Terms & Conditions

Some companies will only include listing when payment is received, however we are more trusting than that and hope our clients appriciate this. Payment terms are 14 days from when your advertisement is live (7 days if it is an event, article or e-shot) or from when any printed advertising is agreeded.

Any none payments of any type of advert, agreed by yourself either by sending through a form or by agreement via the telephone, including listings, printed adverts, e-shots, links, etc, that have a fee attached, may be forwarded to a debt collecting agency if they remain unpaid.

We reserve the right to refuse to deal with any companies/organisers who have not paid for any such advertising, have or are, wasting our valuable time and efforts.

If an event is sent to us, where a premium listing and/or an e-shot is ticked and then is not paid for, we will remove the listing from the events section and will refuse to work with the organiser/event in the future.

Once we have an agreement to any form of advert, that have a fee attached there is no option to cancel.

We pride ourselves on the work that we will do in preparing and researching for any client, whether that be on-line or in print. Once a client has agreed to any form of advertising we will prepare and secure your space, which sometimes means that we do not approach any other similar style of business to yourself and also that we turn down bookings as space in printed matter is filled by your adverts.

For this we have a strict 14 days payment terms of any advert being live or agreement of any printed advertisment. For events, articles and/or e-shots this is reduced to 7 days.

If the full amount is not paid within the payment terms, we may charge late payment fees (under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998). If payments are not received we may also legal action, without warning. The costs of any legal proceedings, along with interest incurred (under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998), will also be due, in addition to the debt.

When payments are not received as per our terms, we may mark an advertisement as Account Suspended whilst we await payment.

If an advertiser ceases to trade, we will either mark as 'Closed' or we may (in the event of a closed website/premises) choose to remove the listing and link to avoid our visitors being disappointed.

THE BIKER GUIDE® would like to state that for event that request a premium listing and/or our e-shot service, this means you have entered into a contract for the amount stated, which requires payment in 7 days. If we do not receive the payment we may have to presume that the event is cancelled or was sent to us in error, so with this in mind the event would then sit on our website marked as Cancelled until the payment was sent to us as per the order.

If an event is sent to us, where a premium listing and/or an e-shot is ticked and then is not paid for, we may choose to remove the listing from the events section and will refuse to work with the organiser/event in the future.

Once an event has been sent to us, with any form of advertising ticked, we will go ahead and publish the agreed advertising and invoice accordingly. If you require an invoice prior, you must contact us prior to sending the form, otherwise we will prepare and publish the advertising ticked for on the form.

If payment is not made and we remove the listing, this does not mean the contract and/or invoice will be cancelled. We will continue to pursue payment, when the full amount is not paid within the payment terms. We may charge late payment fees (under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998). If payments are not received we may also begin legal action, without warning. The costs of any legal proceedings, along with interest incurred (under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998), will also be due, in addition to the debt.

In the case of a cancelled event, we continue to include the information with a cancelled notice.

For all accommodation providers, cafes and pubs, we would also ask you to check with them direct on current opening* times (*if applicable).

For all adverts placed prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, we cannot offer any refunds. We would suggest that for those seeking this, that you would check with your own insurance provider.

Here at THE BIKER GUIDE we have huge ongoing cost to run, maintain and promote the website, these costs will not stop for us, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We would like to thank everyone for their support and understand during these times. Stay Safe!
