  1. Eisenberg returns to Pendine Sands, Carmarthenshire 22-23 September to contest his Motorcycle Record

    Posted on

International ACU MADMAX Team Rider Zef Eisenberg returns to Pendine Sands, Carmarthenshire, this weekend (22-23 September 2018) to contest his World Sand Record title.

On 13 May 2018 Eisenberg raced into the record books, when he secured the outright sand record at Pendine Sands, hitting 201.572mph (324.3 km/h) at the Straightliners Top Speed event. At the time no one in history, car or bike had ever exceeded 200mph at Pendine.

This weekend Eisenberg will be racing his famous 350bhp super-charged Suzuki Hayabusa dubbed ‘The Green Monster’ and will be supported by the MADMAX engineering team, who have precision designed and engineered the bike to command high speeds on sand.

Eisenberg said “Its notoriously difficult to race on sand, and the bike behaves so differently than on tarmac. At higher speeds you risk bike losing grip or the front wheel digging into the sand which throws riders. You also can’t prepare for what the surface is like until the tide goes out. . . you often dodge giant washed-up jellyfish or being an MOD beach - bullet shells! There’s also a short time frame to do the runs before the tide rolls back in, or the thick sea mist - it certainly is real challenge, but makes record breaking all the more glorious”.

With several top riders vying to beat Zef's record, competition is fierce. In preparation for this weekend his Hayabusa now boasts a more powerful engine and he feels more prepared than ever to defend his Sand Racing title. Last weekend he successfully set 4 news records at Elvington including the flying start quarter mile, flying start kilometer and flying start mile, plus he broke a UKTA British record and set a new personal best top speed of 229.8mph.

Eisenberg continued “Pendine Sands has such an illustrious history of land speed racing, it’s always a privilege to race in the footsteps of land speed legends in the hope of securing records”.

Pendine is considered the holy grail of land speed, where the best racers in the world have tried to set records. The beach has hosted record-breaking attempts since 1900s. The firm, flat surface of the beach created a race track that was straighter and smoother than many major roads of the time. Motor Cycle magazine described the sands as "the finest natural speedway imaginable".

The first person to use Pendine Sands for a world land speed record attempt was Malcolm Campbell. On 25 September 1924 he set a world land speed record of 146.16 mph (235.22 km/h) on Pendine Sands in his Sunbeam 350HP car ‘Blue Bird’.

Each year throngs of racers and spectators continue to swarm to the beach in the hope of record breaking, and the speeds have been creeping up each year.

  3. Britain’s Got Talent’s Bolddog FMX Display Team confirmed for The International Dirt Bike Show 2018!

    Posted on

The International Dirt Bike team is pulling out all the stops for this year’s show and has now confirmed the Bolddog FMX Display Team as yet another attraction for visitors to enjoy at Europe’s largest off-road show. As the UK’s number one freestyle motocross team, and Lings Motors and Honda UK’s official UK stunt team, the Bolddog FMX Display Team bases its show around the world’s largest and most sophisticated mobile landing system, performing all the top death-defying freestyle motocross moves!

The team appeared on our TV screens back in 2014, getting as far as the live semi-finals in ITV’s popular Britain’s Got Talent series. The team, featuring the UK’s top ranked freestyle motocross riders, left viewers and TV judges open-mouthed during their time on the show. Unlike the rest of the semi-final performances, Bolddog FMX riders filmed their entry ahead of time as ITV bosses genuinely feared for the safety of the group and deemed their stunts too dangerous for live TV!

The International Dirt Bike Show is held across four days – November 1-4 – at its now traditional home of Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, in partnership for a third year with oil and lubricant giant MOTUL.

Show manager Nick Mowbray said: “We are delighted to confirm that the Bolddog FMX Display Team will be performing at our 2018 event. The team pushes the boundaries of freestyle motocross and leads the way for motorcycle display teams. We cannot wait to witness those 35ft-in-the-air tricks at the Dirt Bike Show.”

Event organiser Mortons Media Group will be looking to build on a sell-out 2017 show with an action-packed agenda to wow the crowds again this year. Advance tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online – dirtbikeshow.co.uk – or by calling 01507 529529. Prices start at £8.

If you’re new to the event and would like to find out more about booking a stand, either visit the website or call the organising team on 01507 529430.

  4. Two established motorcycle festivals join forces for 2019

    Posted on

Two of the UK’s most popular motorcycle festivals are set to join forces in 2019 with the announcement that the Prescott Bike Festival will now incorporate The Kickback Motorcycle Show - The National Custom Show & Championships. The exciting new collaboration will take place at the famous Gloucestershire hill climb and festival on the weekend of the 15th and 16th of June 2019.

As part of a family friendly programme that incorporates everything from trade stands and live entertainment to parades and the opportunity for riders to ‘Run the Hill’, the Prescott Bike Festival also showcases more than 100 ‘Paddock Specials’ each year. This focus on engineering excellence makes it a natural fit with Kickback, which celebrates not only the finest street customs, modified classics and DIY builds but also hosts the National Championship of Custom Bike Building.

More than 80 UK based finalists will take part in the National Championships, held under cover in a huge marquee. Showcasing the skills of emerging talent as well as experienced custom builders. There are no corporate mega budgets here; the focus is squarely upon craftsmen with wild imaginations and dirty fingernails!

The result is two shows for the price of one and a spectacular day out for enthusiasts and industry alike. Even better is the fact that, as with previous Prescott Bike Festivals, all proceeds will go to the Blood Bike charities

Celebrity guests such as Carl Fogarty and Charlie Boorman have made the pilgrimage to the historic venue in previous years and for 2019 racer turned broadcaster Steve Parrish will be joining the judging and commentary team. Parrish will bring his own brand of expertise and irreverent humour to the occasion.

Gordon Downie, Director of the Prescott Bike Festival, said: “We are delighted to be working with Lorne at Kickback and bringing The National Custom Show & Championships to Prescott Hillclimb next year. It’s a perfect fit and complements our core values – motorcycles across the spectrum, engineering excellence and a great family day out. We look forward to welcoming Kickback visitors to Prescott.”

Lorne Cheetham, Director of Kickback, added: “Bringing Kickback and the National Champs to a venue as prestigious as Prescott was a no-brainer – two great shows in one magnificent venue is good for us and our visitors. We’re excited!”
