1. THE FIRST EUROPEAN SPRINT DOESN’T SMILE ON TEAM GRESINI

   “It was important to keep putting in laps and working. In the race, at the start of a season where honestly we’re not fighting for anything yet, between going back to the pits and racing for fourth or fifth place, or going for the win, I chose to go for it. It didn’t work out, but with four laps to go, anything could have happened. In the first part of the race I felt very good physically, I was able to battle with the KTMs, and these are definitely important sensations that I’ll carry with me starting tomorrow.”

   “I felt good during the race. Maybe taking the lead wasn’t the best choice, but even this morning in the wet I felt good. I could have come in a lap earlier, but part of the track was still very dry, and on the lap when I was about to come in to change bikes, I crashed. We definitely weren’t lucky, but I’m convinced that tomorrow we have a great opportunity to be competitive again, especially if the conditions are dry.”

2. INSANE RACE, ALEX BROKEN CLAVICLE, FERMÍN FROM 15TH TO 2ND

   FERMÍN ALDEGUER #54 “It’s never easy to race in situations like this. Obviously, we are professional riders and we know how to separate emotions, but it still helped me to know from the team that at that moment the news coming in about Alex (and the other riders) was positive. We did a good race, in many ways unexpected, but we took twenty very important points. We are not yet fully fit physically, but morale is high after this podium. Now we are waiting for Alex to come back to us at 100%.” UPDATE ON ALEX MÁRQUEZ’S CONDITION The rider has suffered a fracture to his right collarbone, which will be operated on this evening. A marginal fracture to the C7 vertebra will instead be evaluated in the coming days.

3. MÁRQUEZ WINS THE CLOSEST SPRINT OF ALL TIME

   ALEX MÁRQUEZ #73 “Nice victory, but if I think about tomorrow we are still missing something to be competitive in the long race. It was a good battle; on the last lap I could feel a bike close behind and I had to push hard because for 4 or 5 laps I had been struggling with the front. The 11 points recovered on the top of the championship standings are definitely positive, and tomorrow we need to take another step forward to stay on the right path and try to get back into the fight for the very top positions in the world championship.” FERMÍN ALDEGUER #54 “I felt strong in Q1, but today again a yellow flag and then in my last time attack I crashed in Turn 5. I had no major consequences, but I definitely lost confidence in that area for the sprint race. Starting from the 5th row also makes it very difficult. The pace wasn’t bad, but tomorrow we need a better start and to stay calm.”

4. FERMIN REMUNTADA, ALEX OUT ON LAP 2

   FERMIN ALDEGUER #54 “Considering how we started the weekend, finishing with this result is definitely very positive. In the race, maybe I could have done a little more, but starting so far back forced us into a different strategy because of the tyre choice. The soft front tyre allowed us to make up a lot of positions, but in the final third of the race we no longer had enough grip to try and attack Raul Fernandez.” ALEX MARQUEZ #73 “I probably took Turn 3 a bit too slowly because I was worried the front tyre was still not fully up to temperature, and then I applied slightly too much throttle in Turn 4 and lost the front. A stupid mistake on my part, but fortunately I’m fine. It’s great to have Barcelona coming up very soon so we can make up for this race.”

5. FRENCH SPRINT: FERMIN RECOVERS BUT IT’S NOT ENOUGH, ALEX SCORES POINTS

   ALEX MARQUEZ #73 “Saturday was made more difficult by an important mistake I made in qualifying. My fast lap wasn’t bad, but on a circuit like Le Mans every hundredth counts, and with just a few tenths’ delay I ended up on the fourth row. The race was difficult, and when riding in the slipstream it’s easy to make line mistakes, especially there. We did the maximum, picked up a couple of points, and if tomorrow we can make a small step forward in the warm-up, we can aim for a good result — weather permitting.” FERMIN ALDEGUER #54 “This morning with the used tyre things didn’t go badly at all; I was close to Alex’s lap times. But with the new tyre I’m struggling this year. In the race, partly thanks to our own work and partly because of a few crashes ahead, we managed a good comeback.
