  1. We work very hard @ THE BIKER GUIDE to get a large and loyal visitor to our website, with most Bikers in the UK and Europe using us in the 1st instance to look for somewhere to stay - even before they use Google.

The 'other' websites available to advertise that you are indeed Biker Friendly, are mainly directories - ie no news, articles, what's on, competitions and more, so have a very low visitor and when we asked - 89% said they only used us when looking for any Motorcycle related information.

An easy way for you to check a websites worth is see how many people 'like' them on facebook, check their own guestbook and customer reviews and checking on SimilarWeb, which is a good way to check on a website - not always up-to date with some of the information, however gives you a good idea on worldwide stats and UK ranking.

Amazingly some of the website have no UK ranking!

A customer said this to us - "After trying a few other websites that 'supposedly' advertise biker friendly places and getting virtually no response, I have recently signed up with THE BIKER GUIDE. I cannot believe it took me so long, as within 3 weeks the 12 months advert I placed has already been paid for (and more) with a booking for next June. I am going to be honest - the other websites I have tried were cheaper, but you know a waste of money, £25 quid here, £35 there - it all adds up!"

  2. FORMER world sidecar champions the Birchall brothers are set to kick-start the new motorcycling season in style at the Carole Nash Classic Bike Guide Winter Classic show on the weekend of January 7-8.

Ben and Tom will join compere Steve Plater on stage at Newark Showground to discuss a range of subjects including their many accomplishments – being former world sidecar champions, four-time TT race winners and the current Sidecar TT lap record holders.

Head of the event Nick Mowbray said: “Hearing from two current stars of the road racing world will be a real treat for showgoers and, with Steve Plater as interviewer, it should prove to be fascinating for any TT enthusiast.”

The show will also offer the chance to explore hundreds of classic bikes on display, and is a great opportunity to grab some parts and spares to complete any restoration for a new year of riding.

And the Winter Classic won’t just be celebrating classic motorcycles but also scooters, as the popular Scooter World hall will once again be showcasing the smaller machines.

Triple British champion Stuart Day will be at the event along with local scooter clubs, private entries and traders. There will also be various challenges and competitions running throughout the weekend, including a special charity auction.Nick added: “Our season-opener is set to be bigger and better than ever before, and we can’t wait to get 2017 under way.”

Discounted advance tickets are now on sale for the show, with a one-day adult pass costing just £8. Get more information at classicbikeshows.com

  3. Guy: "Well it’s not gone quite to plan...

"I"ve cycled over 11,000 miles this year, including the Tour Divide in America, to and from work most days and I spent three weeks in China in October, back for a few days at work, straight to New Zealand for ten days racing motorbikes, back for a few days at work and then off.

I badly pulled my achilles tendon on the left side after a day or so but thought I'd just get my head down and work through it. I kept good miles up and got to John O’Groats from Grimsby in 4 days and 8 hours, about 800 miles.

But my leg was getting worse and I thought I could keep going and maybe do the whole lot in 30 days but I knew I'd be jiggered for a long time after and maybe even have serious long term damage, which would mean I couldn’t do the serious cycle trip I've got in my head for next year. So I've put my push bike back in the shed for the rest of the year, giving my leg a chance to recover. I'm back at work and I realise I need to listen to my body more.

By just manning up I was papering over the cracks. Thanks very much for the support, loads of folk wishing me well and that was mega. It is what it is and like I said ‘Ive got to stop it before it stops me’ and it did stop me."

Guy Martin - By just manning up I was papering over the cracks

Quote of the day/week must be - "By just manning up I was papering over the cracks".

Wishing Guy and his Achilles tendon well!

  4. John McGuinness received the prestigious award of honorary membership of the BRDC Annual Award Ceremony at the Grand Connaught in London last week.

Honorary membership of the BRDC is only by invitation of the Directors and John is only the second motorcycle racer ever to have been offered membership purely on his achievements on two wheels after Valentino Rossi in 2015. There are others within the Club who are known for their success on two wheels but all of these have qualified for membership from their four wheel achievements.

Many awards were given out on the evening, recognising outstanding achievements and individuals during the Motorsport year, but one of the undoubted highlights of the evening was when John McGuinness was awarded an honorary membership of the prestigious association at the end of the evening.

The 23 time TT Race winner, the Isle of Man’s ‘King of the Mountain’, is only the second ever motorcyclist to win the award. The only other two-wheeled racer to win that honour in history is nine time world champion Valentino Ross. Recently retired F1 champion Nico Rosberg was also in attendance and won the trophy for the fastest lap of the season at Silverstone.

“Wow, wasn’t expecting this at all, but great surprise. Super proud and humbled. Thank you,” said McGuinness on picking up the award.

The British Racing Drivers’ Club is, arguably, the most exclusive club in motor racing. With a membership that numbers only 850, it is home to the most successful racing drivers from Great Britain and the Commonwealth. Those who have met the exacting entry criteria have achieved at the highest levels of the sport, or made a significant contribution to enable others to do so.

Membership of the BRDC is highly sought after and extremely difficult to achieve. The list of Members, past and present, reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of motor sport.

Fellow BRDC Members Ed Jones, Alexander Albon, George Russell and Jann Mardenborough were also honoured with BRDC awards having, achieved notable success this year in single seater championships worldwide. Sir Stirling Moss OBE and Lady Moss, Damon Hill OBE, Nigel Mansell CBE, Sir Chris Hoy MBE and 2017 Renault Sport Formula One Team driver Jolyon Palmer joined over 300 guests to celebrate at this exclusive event, which also supported the BRDC Benevolent Fund.
