  3. IAM’s head of riding standards, Peter Rodger, is advising on riding with pillions.

•Before carrying a pillion, adjust your tyre pressure and suspension.
•Make sure that your passenger has a suitable helmet and clothing.
•Arrange a signal so that they can tell you if they’re uncomfortable.
•If they haven’t ridden on the back of a motorcycle before, it is a good idea to give them advice of what they could expect and what you expect from them.
•Carrying a pillion will affect your acceleration, balance and braking. Allow extra time in judging gaps and overtaking.
•The extra weight on the bike will affect the speed and way it manoeuvres.

Rodger said: “Riding with a passenger takes getting used to. Take precautions and remember your passenger is your responsibility.”

  4. Crazy Cavan & The Rhythm Rockers - March with the Teds!

    Rare London Appearance

    Saturday 8th March
    9pm - 2am
Entry £15 Door (£12 Advance Booking)
    Sorry no under 18s

With their unique, long established, distinct and recognisable sound, first heard as far back as 1964, combining with a reputation for being "wild", Ace Cafe London's annual "March of the Teds" features, 50 years on, the ever unrivalled Crazy Cavan & The Rhythm Rockers.

The Daily Mail, announcing the birth of the Teds 60 years ago, reported on 27.4.54 that "Cinemas, dance halls and other places of entertainment in south east London are closing their doors to youths in "Edwardian" suits because of gang hooliganism...The ban, which week by week is becoming more generally applied, is believed by the police to be one of the main reasons for the extension of the area in which fights... between bands of teenagers can now be anticipated..."

Pretty much the same was written ten years later in 1964 - the Rockers!

It's called rock n' roll - see it, hear it and enjoy it, Live!

The evening includes opportunity to win a range of prizes including two pairs of tickets to attend the cafe's forthcoming Eddie Cochran Tribute Night on Saturday 12th April, along with an Ace 75th anniversary goodie pack and copies of Vintage Rock magazine.

To be in with a chance of winning, retain your entry raffle ticket. Draw to be held on the evening.
