  1. Afghan Heroes Charity Riders

    Posted on

We are proud to announce the launch of AFGHAN HEROES CHARITY RIDERS.

We are overwhelmed by the support the Bikers have shown us and we want to work together to ensure that we create a National Framework of regions, operated under one National organisation.

The aims are to raise awareness for the charity, promote social occasions, bike runs and a general ambience of biker camaraderie. The framework is being assembled; Chairman will be Stitch.

Membership is priced at £35 per annum, as part of your initial membership you will receive a T-Shirt and Patch (pictured). Each region will have the freedom to organise events and runs, with the intention of all regions congregating annually at the Thunder Rally.

As a member you will also be entitled to a 10% discount on all Afghan Heroes events, including the Thunder Rally. Membership will run from 1st January - 31st December, and we are inviting membership now, to ensure that everybody has a chance to benefit for the Thunder Rally 2011, which will be held over the weekend 18/19/20th June 2011.

Afghan Heroes Charity Riders will have its own dedicated website. Within the website you will have access to Events, Calendar, Forum and a shop for purely biker merchandise of which you will be entitled to 10% DISCOUNT. We will be tying up with suppliers to get the best deals, for you.

You will also be entitled to 10% off all events which are organised by Afghan Heroes.

Afghan Heroes Charity Riders will also give back a percentage of your membership as a float to enable you to organise events and ride outs.

If you would like Stitch to attend with the Tour of Duty Bike, please get in touch with Stitch for his availability.

Regular Newsletters and updates will be emailed to keep you up to date with what is going on.

We hope that every year we can meet up at the Thunder Rally.

  2. LET THE THUNDER ROLL !! Wotton Bassett - Mothers Day Ride (The ride of Respect) 2011

    Message from the organisers:

We have been inundated with emails and calls, asking when registration will open, hopefully this will clarify, albeit an exact date is still unknown. Here we go again its edging nearer to registration for the Mothers Day Ride, which will be re-branded the "Ride of Respect".

Registration as we have said will open this month, probably towards the end, however we can now confirm that the donation price will be £10 per bike, to include where appropriate a pillion passenger. We know that the police will try and call registration, so keep an eye on our site from Monday 25th October onwards, let's make it as big as we possibly can.

  3. Wootton Bassett 2011

Wootton Basset 2011 will take place on Mothers Day 3rd April 2011, re-named a Ride of Respect.

Everybody is hoping to make 2011 a truly memorable occasion, Julia is quoted as saying she expects in excess of 25,000 bikes, let's make this happen. Registration will open on the web-site in August, and will surely attract massive interest; we don't know where the cut-off will be so register early to ensure your place on the ride. As with this year's ride, donations will be £5 however the money will be collected through the web-site rather than on the day, easier for everyone. The team is putting together a pack, which will include T-Shirts, Wrist Bands and a Patch, so please keeping watching the site for updates.
Together we are all making a difference, and your passion has been pivotal in the development of the charity and to helping our Troops.

  4. Route 66 - Afghan Heroes

    Posted on

One of the original Mums who helped launch Afghan Heroes is destined to ride on Route 66. Carol Blackpool's pledge is to raise as much money as she possibly can, having never really been into motorbikes or ridden one, this will be an epic journey for her.

Carol says "Together with some lovely people I will be riding along Route 66 also known as ' The Mother Road '. We are raising money for AFGHAN HEROES. As we are doing this I will be thinking of my son John Brackpool who sadly died in Afghanistan last year and who I miss terribly. We will also be thinking of all the fallen, all the injured and all the soldiers still serving. If you would like to sponsor us please follow the link. Thank you. To all the soldiers in the sand STAY SAFE xx"
