1. National Trust gets Biker Friendly!

   Tattershall castle in Lincolnshire throws its' doors open to Biker for a special free opening - Friday 20th May!

   Standing proud in the Lincolnshire landscape, Tattershall Castle is a rock of a building.  Its story is one of splendour, decay and rebirth. Built in the 15th Century as a statement of power, laid to ruin for over 200 years and finally rescued in 1911, today this mammoth, brick medieval castle acts as an iconic landmark for many.

   Bike enthusiasts may be familiar with Tattershall as a ride-through, now is your chance to visit. Climb the 150 steps from the basement to Battleparts, check out the 17th century graffiti, enjoy the incredible views from the roof including neighbouring RAF Coningsby or just relax in the grounds and enjoy some hog roast. Special provision has been made for storage of helmets.  

   Also on the day, there will be a chance to find out about other events Tattershall has planned for the year ahead, including a brand new arts project called 'DARK MATERIALS' in which the darker side of life will be explored through a major new art exhibition and an alternative gothic country fair.

   We are keen to offer an interesting experience for the biker community and somewhere you wish to visit so any ideas for events and attractions will be gratefully recieved.

   Open to those arriving on a Motorcycle and not the general public. 11am - 4pm.

2. ACE CAFE LONDON STREETFIGHTER & STUNT FESTIVAL

   Following the lamented loss, due to new building works, of last years inaugural event venue of Wembley, and as a consequence of the event having outgrown the original historic North Circular Road premises, Ace Cafe London, in association with StuntUK and the International StuntBike Freestyle (SBF) competition, have teamed up again to present the Ace Cafe London Streetfighter & Stunt Festival, to be held throughout the day from 10am on Sunday 31st July, now relocated one mile east from the cafe along the North Circular Road and near the M1 motorway at the UK's premier shopping centre, Brent Cross.
   
   In addition to trade and industry stands and displays, this second annual event again combines the cafe's legendary Streetfighter Sunday, as well as showcasing the live action finals of the SBF competition, with stunt riders from across Europe and beyond taking part and competing for an increased prize fund totalling £5K.

   Highlights of the event include the Evel Knievel " True Evel" tour, featuring Evel's original motorcycles, famous jump leathers, personal memorabilia, and untold photos and stories, "Best Streetfighter" static display by Streetfighters Magazine, plus "Show Up n' Shine" competitions with awards and prizes, dyno shoot-out, tyre-frying burnouts, mini moto's and a wheelie machine for those who want to experience "up in the air" thrills!
   
   In addition to the Ace stage, featuring live music from Avenge Vulture Attack and hosting MC and BikerFM Streetfighter DJ "Kiss My Ass", entertainment includes The Fuel Girls, a host of hot tricks from the East Coast FMX display team and pro drifter Belinda Challis, who will be putting her Garage-D built Nissan Skyline R32 through its paces.
   
   London's Air Ambulance is once again the events chosen charity.

3. Guy Martin's Big Brew - Hein Gericke in Belfast

   Road racing legend Guy Martin wants everyone to support The Big Brew and have a cuppa for charity on Saturday 7th May to raise money for Spinal Research.

   Adelaide Insurance Services has teamed up with Hein Gericke in Belfast to run their Big Brew day supporting Spinal Research at Hein Gericke on the Boucher Road, Belfast.

   Spinal Research aims to get paralysed people walking again and has a campaign especially for motorcyclists called “Ride Out.” Ride Out is dedicated to motorcyclists who love what they do but are at risk of a spinal cord injury. The campaign enables motorcyclists to give something back and help people who have been paralysed.

   On the Big Brew website Guy Martin says, “"When I decided to support Ride Out for Spinal Research, I didn't know that I'd have a big accident at the Isle of Man TT.”

   “I fractured the bones in my upper back, but luckily I didn't damage my spinal cord. It could so easily have been a different story and I'd have wound up paralysed. That's why I decided to support Ride Out and combine my love of tea with motorbikes – all in the name of a good cause! The more money you raise from The Big Brew, the more you'll be able to help with Spinal Research's work to get people who are paralysed walking again and back on their bikes. Please get involved and help us beat paralysis. Cheers,Guy”

   Everyone that takes part in a Big Brew event will be able to enter a free prize draw and one lucky winner and a friend will meet Guy, which is likely to be at Snetterton.

   So get down to Hein Gericke in Belfast on 7th May and help Adelaide Insurance and Hein Gericke raise as much money as they can!

4. Thunder Rally 2 - June 17th-19th

   Following the first successful Thunder Rally the time is upon us again for Thunder Rally 2011.

   The first event was planned as a thank you to everyone who supports us throughout the year, to say a huge thank you to the biking community who raised so much money for the charity last year at the Mothers Day Ride, also to say a huge thank you to the people of Wotton Bassett, who regardless of the weather, time of day or year stand out on the streets of that beautiful town and pay their respects to the fallen. Those of you who attended last year will recall the speech made by the Deputy Mayor of Wotton Bassett, in which he thanked all of you for your support of their town. It is also about showing the troops and their families that we haven't forgotten them, and no matter how far away they are from us we still think about them constantly, and wait for the day when they are home safe again.

   Well we are at it again, we have taken your comments on board and this years event is planned to be better in lots of ways, including more shows in the main arena, more attractions for you, bigger shopping village, better ticket pricing with cheaper early bird tickets, a full line up of music for all three days Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well! The camp site is level and is equipped with showers! We will have pre recorded messages from the guys in Afghanistan, as they receive their "comfort boxes" sent by the Charity and funded by your donations.

   So why not come along and spend the weekend with us or even a day you can meet the Charity founders, buy Afghan Heroes merchandise, and have some fun while the kids watch the Equestrian stunt display or the Wall of Death show. Perhaps you want to get your trusty steed on our Dyno machine? Or perhaps buy some new leathers, then stay and listen to the music in the evening. Make a day or weekend of it there is plenty of room with easy parking, and lots of space for camping.

5. National Road Rally 2011 Gains Six Appeal

   Saturday 25^th  – Sunday 26^th June

   To allow more flexibility and widen the appeal of the National Road Rally, the UK’s premier road riding event, there will now be a choice of six ‘Final Controls’ to allow entrants to complete the Rally at a location closer to home.

   The National Road Rally, run by the ACU in association with the BMF and the learning difficulty charity Mencap, is to be held this year over the weekend of 25/26 June, but in a break with tradition, the single Final Control format has been changed.

   Know as a scatter rally, in recent years the National Road Rally Final Control has been at places such as The National Motorcycle Museum, Bletchley Park museum and last year at the MIRA HQ in Hinckley, however, feedback from participants showed that with a single finish control, some riders, even after completing the 540 miles maximum allowed on the rally itself, could still face a considerable journey home. This, together with the distance to their chosen start control could mean that entrants may be riding over a thousand miles during the weekend.

   With the cost of fuel escalating, as well as the safety issues involved in travelling such distances in a restricted time, the National Road Rally Committee decided on a broader spread of six controls.

   Three Final Controls have already been confirmed and they are at Lymm Services, Warrington; The Raven Café, Whitchurch and Donington Services, Kegworth. The three further Final Controls covering the North, South and the London area will be confirmed shortly. These controls will operate as normal controls during the rally but between 7.30am – 10.00am on the Sunday, they will act as Final Controls.

   To allow riders to start closer to home, there will also be a number of controls only open for starting the rally and/or connecting with the main matrix of the Rally. The location of these restricted opening controls will be released with the participants’ final instructions. Riders may still start at any control on the rally matrix.
   
   New for 2011, Rally entrants are also eligible for a number of special offers:

   1. Any rider who raises over £500 for Mencap will receive free entry to the 2012 National Road Rally.
   2. Get a friend to enter the Rally (who did not enter last year) and receive a £5 refund for each friend (up to 4 friends!)
   3. Entrants will also receive a £5 discount if they are a member of the BMF (not available in conjunction with any other BMF offer or promotion)
