  3. SPECTACULAR NEW SHOW SET FOR KENT DEBUT

    Posted on

A JAM-PACKED WEEKEND of high-octane motoring action is heading for Kent this September.

Making its debut in 2013, The Carole Nash Big Kent Bike Show will be bringing straight-line sprint displays, wheelie machines, stunt extravaganzas and much, much more straight into the heart of the home counties.

A welcome new addition to the Classic Bike Shows line-up; the nationally-recognised organiser of already massive events at Stafford and Bristol is excited to be bringing its unique brand of motorcycling madness to the Kent Event Centre.

Show manager Nick Mowbray commented: “We have a weekend bursting with attractions, displays and activities that are designed to entertain showgoers of all ages, as well as die-hard bike aficionados.

“And, The Kent Event Centre is the perfect destination for us with the location having its own trials track already on-site.”

Among the highlights of the September 28-29 show will be live demonstrations from the Kent Youth Trials Club, Ken Fox’s famous Wall of Death and a gravity-defying performance from the Vertical Trix stunt team.

There are a host of interactive opportunities as well with visitors invited to have a go on the Repsol Honda Wheelie Machine or speed round the track with The South Coast Land Rover Experience.

Safety will also be on the agenda; the Kent Fire and Rescue Service will be at the show, informing the crowds about its ‘Biker Down’ scheme.

Nick added: “Our portfolio of superb bike shows has grown significantly in recent years and we are delighted to be bringing the Big Kent Bike Show into that group.

“We are looking forward to the coming months as we complete preparations for the event and build up to revealing our special guest attendees.”

  4. Better weather and introduction of new areas at the BMF Show put smiles on faces!

    Posted on

BMF Show organisers The Mulberry Group have said that there was an increase in attendance at this years’ BMF Show compared to 2012.

The weekend’s attendance was given as 42,432 which shows an increase of just over 3,000 from last year. “The weekend gave us a small increase on last year” said Mulberry’s MD Martin Chick, “although our target figure was 45,000, however given the fact that the country is still in a difficult way economically and some other shows won’t actually be staged in 2013, we have to take the positives from this and continue to build on them”

The show featured new areas including a fledgling Vintage and Classic area featuring Bonhams and a fine display by the Vincent Owners Club and an Adventure and Overland Touring area which also included a presentation stage hosted by Graham Hoskins (Motorbike Diaries Mad in the Med) and featuring among others: Sam Manicom, Norman and Maggie Magowan, Ed March, Tom Woodrowe, Pat Garrod and Gary Taylor and Patsy Quick from Riders for Health.

The weather certainly helped proceedings and the Bike park on Sunday started to look like it did from a few years ago with marshals having to work hard to park them all up.

Other additions to the show included a big screen which allowed visitors to watch the Moto GP qualifying sessions and the race live on Sunday and Ken Fox’s Wall of Death.

The cavalcade of Clubs in the main arena was the biggest for a number of years and pretty much everyone left with a smile on their face and bags of motorcycle gear in their hands! The BMF Shows are still not back to the ‘Glory’ years of the mid/late 70’s but things are moving in the right direction.
