  2. France and an incredible 10th International Film Award presented by MotoGP World Champion, Freddie Spencer.

It may not be winning an Oscar nomination or Oscar, but Dream Racer is a film that keeps on winning Films Awards around the globe and more importantly the heart of viewers. After earning a double Award in Canada at the Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival a few months ago, Dream Racer won its 10th Film Award at French Riviera Motorcycle Film Festival (2-4 March 2018) presented by none less than MotoGP Legend and 3-time World Champion, Freddie Spencer.

With Freddie Spencer being on stage addressing the audience inside the movie theater in Nice, France and Christophe Barriere-Varju (starring in Dream Racer) over in Australia, the Facebook Messenger Live Video came in announcing Dream Racer had won the Audience Award. Over a live video connection with the French Audience, Freddie stated "I really admired your perseverance on and off the track in Dream Racer, I can totally relate what you were experiencing. Dream Racer is truly an inspiring film."

To which Christophe replied "I used to watch you race MotoGP, and never... never in my wildest dreams I would have thought I would be speaking with you today, thank you." Which then followed answering questions from Festival founder, Olivier Wagner and a Q&A session with the audience.

"Motorcycles are a powerful vector of freedom, whether it’s adventure, off-road riding, road racing or vintage bikes,” says FRMFF founder and president Olivier Wagner. “In addition to being a true motorcycle racing fan, I am a movie lover and amateur filmmaker. In fact, most of the movies I have made were motorcycle related. I decided to create this event because – having competed as a director in many international motorcycle film festivals – I have had the occasion to see great movies that nobody knows in France. And the best way to do so is to create my own festival because, to my knowledge, none exists in France.”

"I met Olivier Wagner during the Lisbon Motorcycle Film Fest last year along with Caius Tenche Director of the Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival (Canada), it is refreshing to meet people doing things for the love of their passion -- nothing more, and to be able to share Dream Racer message with audiences around the world is really what it is all about" says Christophe Barriere-Varju.

Christophe Barriere-Varju also works with Motorcycle Film Festivals such as the Lisbon Motorcycle Film Fest, the Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival, and the Portland Motorcycle Film Festival, and The Vintagent to bring new films to its newly established film platform, Dream Racer TV -- a Netflix / iTunes like film platform that already span an audience of viewers across 70 countries.

    ABOUT THE JUDGING PANEL

Freddie Spencer, President: American MotoGP pilot, 3-time world champion. "Fast Freddie" was the youngest world champion, a record only recently broken by Marc Marquez. Freddie Spencer is the only MotoGP racer to have won both 250cc and 500cc races, and world title in the same year, 1985. His book 'FEEL, My Story' is a search for the personal fulfilment that comes through finding your purpose, Freddie’s story is a universal one. In its message of hope, Feel transcends its genre to offer a story for everyone. Part thriller, part philosophical self-exploration, it is a remarkably insightful account of what it is like to have it all, but wonder why.

Eric Saul, Professional Grand Prix racer, founder of I.C.G.P.:
Original member of the French generation of Grand Prix racers who shone brilliantly in the Continental Circus, Eric Saul is the founder and organizer of the famous International Classic Grand Prix (ICGP), whose aim is to bring together former world championship riders with their vintage machines, thus allowing the public to relive unforgettable moments from this magical era. An era in which the Grand Prix had starting grids counting up to 36 pilots in 6 different categories.

Lydia Truglio Beaumont, Racer, Trainer & Journalist: Lydia really is a girl apart. She defines herself as Founder of the Mag'Motardes, a graduate educator, and a pluri-disciplinary amateur rider. That's what she is and her excellent blog that highlights women in the world of motorcycle is really worth a read. Her participation in the "Africa Eco Race" which will provide support to children's associations in Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal.

Didier Constant, Founder & Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian magazine "Motoplus.ca":  Created in March 2008, the online magazine "Motoplus.ca" is currently in its tenth year of publication. As he writes after Sacha Guitry: "to please everyone, is to please no one, and it would be an insult if one sought everyone’s approval.” Didier understood this a long time ago. One touches people’s hearts when one stops trying to seduce at all costs. Didier came from the “Belle Province” (Québec) especially for this event.

    Gérard Delio (Photo Press),
Professional Sports Photographer: If there is a familiar name in the French motorcycle racing community, it is that of «Photo Press». Gérard Delio has been haunting the circuits since the 1970s. Today he still immortalizes riders in action. There is not a single racer who does not have a picture of him taken by Gerard. If you're looking for an archived photo, he’s your man.

  3. Carl Cox Motorsport continue their support of seven time World Sidecar Champion Tim Reeves and his passenger Mark Wilkes in his quest for glory at the 2018 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy.

World renowned DJ Cox, who is a big fan of the TT, attended the event last year, supporting both Reeves and the unique solo talent of Michael Dunlop. For this season he is stepping up his support of the Reeves/Wilkes duo with the purchase of a new LCR sidecar outfit.

Tim took his last Isle of Man TT win back in 2013, so the determined Kentish racer is fired up to add to his collection of silver statues. Last season Tim and brother Tristan dominated the British F1 Sidecar Championship, with a 100% win record but things didn’t go their way around the Mountain Course. Sidecar Race 1 saw an intermittent fuel pump fault leaving them in fifth and in Race 2 an electrical sensor failed, resulting in a retirement, just as they were gaining on the leader.

Wilkes did, however, receive the Dave Wells Trophy, awarded to the best newcomer passenger, for his fifth place in Race 1 while a lap of 114.793mph was the fastest ever recorded by a passenger making his debut on the Mountain Course.

Carl invited Tim to race at the prestigious Philip Island Classic event just before Christmas and cemented a deal for the 2018 Isle of Man TT Races. Entered as ‘Carl Cox Motorsport Powered by H&S Contractors’, the pairing from Kent are due to receive their outfit on Thursday this week and will immediately be going testing in France.

    Tim Reeves explained:

“We’ve got to hand it to Carl, every year he steps up with a serious level of support and he’s such a great guy to have involved with the sport, for everyone within the Sidecar community. With so much short circuit success I feel it’s our time to notch up some TT victories; we’ve done the ‘knowledge’ there, so there’s no reason why we can’t with such a strong package and support. It would be great if we can do it for Mark as well. He really deserves some success on three wheels. We’re also thankful to have the continued support of Neil Pallet of H&S Contractors who is staying on board as well…. So let’s get this season started!”

    Carl Cox commented:

“I love sidecars and have great respect for the Isle of Man so it’s awesome to combine the two, with support for Tim and Mark for this season at the TT. Tim decimated the field in the British Championship last year but I know he wants to stand on the top step at the Isle of Man TT again too. With any luck I can get out there again to cheer these guys on as they give it their best shot.”

    • A programme of events and initiatives to celebrate the anniversary of the iconic Ducati Naked bike
    • A special celebratory parade on 24 March in France at the “Sunday Ride Classic 2018”
    • 25 years on from the start of production, Ducati displays a 1993 Monster 900 at the Bologna museum
Borgo Panigale, (Bologna, Italy), 5 March 2018 – Twenty-five years have passed since the first Monster left the factory in Borgo Panigale, Bologna. Since its presentation to the public and the press at the “Intermot” international exhibition in Cologne in 1992, and its launch onto the market in 1993, this iconic Ducati model has brought a radical change to the world of motorcycles, creating a brand new sector – the naked sport bikes – and generating one of the most devoted communities of enthusiasts.

It's an important anniversary for Ducati, a moment full of activities and initiatives to celebrate this significant landmark. Among the events is a Monster rally organised in France at the “Sunday Ride Classic 2018”, an international event dedicated to collectors' bikes to be held at the “Paul Ricard” Circuit in Le Castellet during the afternoon of 24 March. Ducati and the European DOCs (Ducati Owners Clubs) involved in the event have called Monsteristi together to stage a racetrack parade to celebrate the anniversary in spectacular fashion. The invitation to take part in this peaceful invasion of the circuit is open to all Monster owners who need only register for the event and turn up at the track.

March 5 is another date to remember. Exactly 25 years ago, the first Monster came off the Ducati production line in Borgo Panigale, Bologna. This year, to mark the anniversary, an original Monster 900 MY1993 is on display at the Ducati Museum. The bike, obtained via a collector and enthusiast who kept it in excellent condition, is ready to be admired by the museum's thousands of visitors in the room dedicated to this iconic and historic motorcycle.

Lots more events aimed at celebrating the 25th anniversary of Ducati's first Naked bike are planned for the 2018 World Ducati Week, the world's largest Ducati rally, held every two years, which gathers together thousands of enthusiasts. The event will be held on 20, 21 and 22 July 2018 at the Marco Simoncelli Misano World Circuit in Misano Adriatico. Yet another reason not to miss this fantastic occasion.

  4. IAM RoadSmart’s renowned Skills Days, which allow drivers and riders to learn handling skills from real experts while driving their own cars or motorbikes on race tracks across the country, are back for 2018.

Taking place at Thruxton in Hampshire and Knockhill in Scotland during the summer and autumn, the sessions are open to the public – and allow a rare chance to learn about handling and precision driving on a world class racing circuit, and how to use those skills to drive and ride with safety and enjoyment on public roads.

Drivers and riders will either work one-to-one with an instructor, or as part of a small group, and will be given the opportunity to fully understand what their car or motorbike is capable of.

Skills you will have the chance to develop include:

ï‚·Entry, apex and exit points, how they vary from road to circuit, how we use them and where we should position for view, stability and progress

ï‚·Where to brake, when and how much to brake, how it feels in an emergency. Most people have never used their brakes to their full potential – you will on a Skills Day!

    ï‚·Controlled, progressive, smooth cornering

ï‚·Gear selection and how to decide which is the most appropriate gear for the circumstances

ï‚·How to use the accelerator or throttle to add stability to the car or motorcycle when cornering

The 2018 schedule for Skills Days is as follows:

    Thruxton

    May :

    1st – Cars; 2nd – Bikes

    June :

    11th – Bikes

    July :

    September :

    10th – Cars; 11th – Bikes

    Knockhill

Motorcycle Skills Days are £149 each (full day), car Skills Days £135 each (half day).

Sarah Sillars, IAM RoadSmart Chief Executive Officer, said: “Drivers and riders rarely get to understand and explore what their car or bike is capable of – and what they are not capable of. Our Skills Days are the perfect chance to enjoy the art and the fun of driving and riding well – and translating those skills into something that will make driving and riding a pleasure rather than a chore.”
