Barry Burrell has successfully defended his ROKiT OFF BMW F 900 R Cup championship title at Brands Hatch, in a thrilling season-ending race that also saw a wildcard entry from Isle of Man TT winner Davey Todd.

Burrell has become the only rider to win the championship more than once, doing so by crossing the line on his Halliwell Jones machine in third place behind Kieran Smith. In the final points tally, Burrell led Smith 291 points to 272.

Sunday saw Bobby Varey take the top step after leading most of the race, and finished the overall championship in a very close third, with 270 points.

The ROKiT OFF BMW F 900 R Cup is open to new and experienced riders, competing on identical 105 hp F 900 R roadsters, in a one-make series.

Riders committing to the full 2027 season are eligible for a further £500 off the cost of the bike, when purchased before 31 December 2026, bringing the cost down to just £6,495 (incl. VAT).

Burrell said: “The ROKiT OFF F 900 R Cup is a cost-effective championship and a great way to get your face out there. If people come in and do well they really stand out, because you’re often racing against some big names like Davey - last year also saw Kyle Ryde and Storm Stacey wildcard in the series.

“It’s very accessible too - a lot of the times I go by myself, I don’t need anyone else to support me, whereas in other championships you’d need four or five people.

“Parts support for the series is also a real bonus, thanks to the provision of a stocked truck at every round, reducing the need to stock or transport your own, or being short of that crucial part. And thanks to the nature of a one-make series, you can be at the front without having to fettle the bike too much, it’s very simple to set up, with a click or two here and there between circuits.

“The policing of the championship is also brilliant. You’ll always have people pushing the boundaries, but they try to keep it as fair and as level a playing field as possible.”

Entering the season late and missing the first race, Barry Burrell quickly racked up four main race wins and entered the last round of the season with a 22 point lead.

Finishing fourth in the main race was 2024 BMW ROKiT OFF F 900 R Cup champion Thomas Strudwick, ahead of three time Isle of Man TT winner Davey Todd, who entered as a wildcard.

Todd said: “The bikes are a lot of fun to ride and they handle really well, especially for something with such a comfortable riding position.

“The power of the bikes and strict rules around modifications makes for some really close racing on track and the F 900 R Cup community in the paddock was really helpful offering advice.

“It’s definitely a perfect low-cost class with competitive - but fun - racing. It won’t be my last time racing an F 900 R, that’s for sure.”

Entries for the 2027 ROKiT OFF BMW F 900 R Cup open on 1 November, and riders must hold an ACU Clubman-grade licence to compete.

Scott Grimsdall, Head of Marketing & PR at BMW Motorrad UK, commented: “The ROKiT OFF BMW F 900 R Cup is ideal as a first step into racing or a competitive challenge for more seasoned riders. The standard of riding is always exceptional and sharing a schedule with the British Superbike Championship means every round has a great sense of occasion. We’ve enjoyed another great season of close racing in 2026, so a big thank you to all competitors. And of course, a huge congratulations

to Barry for becoming the ROKiT OFF F 900 R Cup’s first back-to-back champion.”
