Ace Cafe London celebrates electric motive power from 9am to 5pm on Saturday 18th May 2023, hosting the cafes annual Electric Vehicle Owners Meet.

Dating from 1827 when Hungarian priest Ányos Jedlik built the first viable electric motor,  the folowing year he used it to power a small car and, at the Stanley Cycle Show in 1896 in London, England, bicycle manufacturer Humber exhibited an electric tandem bicycle.

In 1897, electric cars first found commercial use as taxis in Britain and in the United States. In London, Walter Bersey's electric cabs were the first self-propelled vehicles for hire at a time when cabs were horse-drawn.

The electric vehicle fleet peaked at approximately 30,000 vehicles at the turn of the 20th century  including the iconic British milk float.  For most of the 20th century, the UK was the world's largest user of electric road vehicles.

  4. Record Store Day 2024

    Posted on

    Saturday 20th April

Record Store Day is a day for the people who make up the world of the record shop - the staff, the customers, the artists, the labels - to come together and honour the special role they have in communities. In the UK, over 270 shops participate in every corner of the country.

While there's only one Record Store Day a year, organisers work hard throughout the year to shine a light on all the amazing people in record shops and the special and exclusive releases artists and labels create to support them.

As a part of this unique culture, Ace Cafe London celebrates the link established in the 1950’s between a jukebox playing rock n’ roll and personal transport. For young Brit kids this was a motorbike, and the Ace Cafe was home to these new machines and their soundtracks – the Ton Up kids and the cafe racer had arrived!
Love it live & treasure it forever, on vinyl!

Listen, revel and be immersed in a mix of the best rock and roll and rockabilly, blended with the London sub-culture sounds, broadcasting 24/7 on online radio and social media.

  5. Ace Cafe Supports Childline

    Posted on

Ace Cafe London and Carl Fogarty are supporting Childline on Sunday 21st April as part of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs’ Ride It & Drive It Day 2024.  Carl Fogarty supporting Childline

Carl said "In the first year people from the Motorbike community came together and helped raise over £40,000 for the NSPCC’s Childline Service by taking part in the annual Drive It Day. Last year was the first time ever we had our very own Ride It Day and the total has now risen to a huge £139,000 raised!  This April, you can buy a Ride It Day Rally Plate for just £12.50 and ride out with friends, or join an organised event, and once again help support vulnerable children and young people across the UK.”

With motorcyclists from across the UK this year again invited to join the thousands of other vehicle owners in fundraising for Childline by taking a ride (or drive) to show their support, we can make a difference that counts!

Every 25 seconds a call is made to Childline - we can help them answer those calls by the following:

Buy a motorbike/car rally plate with 100% of the profit going directly to support local children:
Make a donation here to support Childline.

Post a photograph of your bike/car, displaying your rally plate, to Facebook and Instagram using #Acecafechildline and we’ll pick a worthy winner who will receive a special gift from the Ace!
Ace Cafe London invites all riders and drivers to support the NSPCC’s Childline, so let’s show that we care and do what we can to support Childline.
