  1. First established in 1902 and now based in Hinckley, Leicestershire, Triumph Motorcycles is currently the fastest growing motorcycle brand in the world. For over a decade Triumph has produced iconic bikes which perfectly blend design, character, charisma and performance. Producing around 50,000 bikes per year, Triumph is the largest British automotive manufacturer in the country.

    At the heart of Triumph’s philosophy is a commitment to developing truly unique motorcycles that offer a blend of distinctive design, intuitive handling and performance. The innovation and engineering passion that gave birth to the iconic Bonneville of the 60’s has today created a broad range of bikes suited to all motorcycle riders, including the striking 2.3 litre Rocket III, the unmistakable Speed Triple and the powerful Daytona 675.

    In recent years it is the Daytona 675 that has enabled Triumph to truly stamp its mark on the modern motorcycle landscape, a proven class leader in the field. After winning the Supertest ‘King of the Supersport’ crown for four successive years the Daytona’s status has been further enhanced with the MAP Embassy Triumph team’s victory in the 2008 British Supersport Championship.

    With an impressive 2010 product portfolio in place, including significant updates to existing best-selling bikes and a striking new model, Triumph is set to continue to enhance its status in the marketplace.

    Triumph currently employs around twelve hundred personnel worldwide and has offices in the UK, America, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Sweden and Benelux, plus a network of independent distributors. Triumph has manufacturing facilities in Hinckley, Leicestershire and Thailand.
     
  2. Ducati UK is to relocate early next year from their current offices in Milton Keynes to new purpose built head quarters at Silverstone Race Circuit.

    The move to the Northamptonshire track is the result of a lengthy search for premises after out -growing the current offices and also the need to centralise all Ducati UK operations.

    The Silverstone premises will see a bespoke 8000sq feet facility that will include offices, warehouse, dealer training rooms, a workshop that will service the press and demonstrator fleets (now brought back in-house) and there is the potential for a retail outlet for the sale of Ducati merchandise during major track events.

    The new Ducati UK premises are expected to be ready early next year and will be situated close to the Silverstone Innovation centre on the outside of Woodcote. This relocation heralds a new era for Ducati UK who can look forward to sharing in the on-going development of the Silverstone circuit as it now becomes the UK home for  both two and four-wheeled Motorsport.

    Tim Maccabee, MD of Ducati UK is excited at the prospect of the imminent move to the UK home of British Motor Racing and commented "The relocation to Silverstone will enable Ducati UK to work with Silverstone on customer events, PR opportunities and make best use of our demonstrator fleet in an appropriate local environment. These are exciting times for Silverstone’s development and we are delighted to be a part of it."

  3. The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG UK) has reported that on a bracing Bank Holiday Monday evening there was the first gathering for some time, of MAG members in Northern Ireland.

    The venue chosen by local riders was the Dirty Duck pub in Holywood and the evening saw an interesting array of bikes and an enthusiasm from those attending to get things going again in the Province.

    The first gathering was organised by Molly and the MAG UK Campaigns Co-ordinator Paddy Tyson popped over from MAG “Central”, Paddy is originally from County Fermanagh.

    Right To Ride’s, Trevor Baird said, “Although a MAG UK member, the report of the meeting came as a surprise, especially as we are in discussions with MAG UK about some form of collaboration to get MAG started again here. In the past, first as the Regional Rep for Northern Ireland and then General Secretary of MAG UK, I know that when the motorcycle community works together for the benefit of riders, we all win”.

    Our hand at Right To Right (and we are sure our supporters will agree), is extended in friendship to MAG on the various raft of issues we face as riders in Northern Ireland that come either internally or externally from the rest of the UK to Europe.

    Let’s hope together both the “new” MAG in Northern Ireland and Right To Ride can work in collaboration with the same co-operation that was extended to us by the local BMF (British Motorcyclists Federation) representative, who we worked together with recently on the introduction of Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) here in Northern Ireland.

    At Right To Ride we look forward to arranging an initial meeting and offer MAG in NI our support and good will and hope that they will reciprocate.

  4. Wings & Wheels thrilled crowds over the bank holiday weekend as more than 32,000 people joined the air and motoring Show for its first year as a two day event.

    The RAF put on a fantastic array of air displays with the Red Arrows, Eurofighter Typhoon, Hawk, Tucano and Tutor all delighting crowds.

    The highlight of the flying demonstration was the Harrier’s triumphant return to the aerodrome in celebration of 50 years since the first vertical take-off at Dunsfold. The jet danced and hovered along the crowd line before bowing out to a waving, cheering army of visitors.

    Miss Demeanor, Red Bull Matadors, Breitling Wingwalkers, Aerobatic Glider Display, Tigers Parachute Team and Vulcan Bomber all added their own little bit of magic to the Show, whilst the ‘Wheels’, masterminded by Brooklands Museum, demonstrated the power and speed of iconic cars up and down the runway. Aston Martins, Ferraris, Jaguars, AC Cobras, Lotuses, Porsches, TVRs and the Merecedes-Benz Silver Arrows were just a few of the cars in the line-up.

    Jamie McAllister, Event Director, Wings & Wheels comments: “We have received an unprecedented amount of positive feedback from enthusiastic guests and are overwhelmed by the success of the Show. Having invested substantially in the two day format, particularly the marshalling and traffic management on the external road junctions, it is rewarding for the whole team to know it has paid off and that everyone enjoyed such a smooth entry and exit to the show. We are all very much looking forward to next year and can confirm we will be holding the Show on Sunday 28th and Monday 29th August. In response to early demand tickets will be on sale from Friday 3rd September.”

    With over 60 trade stalls and attractions located within the central arena it wasn’t just the aircraft and vehicles which kept the crowds entertained. Visitors enjoyed the return of favourites such as Mercedes Benz World and the Vulcan Village as well as the new attractions such as Walk on Water. The Wings & Wheels supported charities were a vital presence in the central arena and received astounding support and charitable donations from the crowds which will contribute significantly to the total money raised for charity over the bank holiday weekend.
