This Neurodiversity Celebration Week, automotive industry charity, Ben, has launched a range of new support options and resources focused on neurodiversity, to meet growing demand and raise awareness about this important topic across the sector.
Neurodivergence is when a person’s brain processes, learns, and/or behaves differently from what is ‘typical’ and neurotypical describes how the average person’s brain works. From Ben’s latest insights, those in the automotive industry who have reported having neurodiverse conditions such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia are more likely to experience mental, physical, financial, and social issues. In 2024, 73% of neurodivergent individuals in the industry said they experienced feelings of anxiety, compared to 44% of neurotypical individuals. Neurodivergent individuals were also more likely to be stressed at home (57%), compared to 32% of neurotypical individuals.
Currently, almost 9% of people receiving support from Ben are affected by neurodiversity - either personally, or they are the partner, carer, or parent of someone who is neurodivergent.
In light of this, Ben has added two new support programmes to its digital therapeutic platform, Silvercloud, which is free for automotive workers and their family dependents who can sign up using the code: ben. The new programmes are:
Ben has also launched new neurodiversity-related online tips and advice to help those seeking support and diagnosis. The online content is at www.ben.org.uk/neurodiversity
The charity has also released a new article for employers, sharing thoughts from Julie Hayes, Ben’s Head of Specialist Services, about embracing neurodiversity in the workplace to help leaders and managers support their employees: click here.
Rachel Clift, Ben’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “This Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we’re pleased to launch a range of new support programmes, resources, and content on this hugely important topic. Our insights reveal that neurodivergent individuals in the automotive industry are facing greater challenges with their health and wellbeing, making it all the more important for us to provide easy access to relevant support for them and show them that we’re always here if and when they need us.
“As always, we remain dedicated to supporting everyone who works, or has worked, in the automotive industry. We believe that, by fully embracing neurodiversity across our sector, we can create a more inclusive environment where all individuals can thrive, both personally and professionally. Through this campaign, we aim to raise awareness and reduce stigma around neurodivergence, as well as encourage open conversations, greater understanding, and support.”
Ben will also share some resources from Neurodiversity Celebration Week on its available channels.

ALEX MARQUEZ #73 “It was another great Sunday, maybe the first one in which I really thought I could win. It didn’t happen, but still, it’s a historical day, another one. I knew where I was faster and where I was losing to Marc, but it didn’t go as planned and we know we gave our best. Four second place finishes in the first four races are easier said than done… and never in my wildest dreams I would have imagined that. Let’s continue this way.” FERMIN ALDEGUER #54 “Too bad, because with the long-lap penalty the race was kind of compromised already. We even had a good start and then, in the best time, while I was behind the faster group and ready to learn, I had to perform the penalty. I re-joined with a good pace but then a coming together with another rider made me lose some focus. We need to improve in many areas, especially under braking, but today I can say that, compared to Thailand, I saw some improvements. Still not result-wise, but we need to be patient.”

The multi-link rear suspension system, complete with a fully adjustable 267mm cylinder rear shock absorber and a high-strength 450lbs alloy spring, ensures maximum traction and comfort.
The new 19” front and 18” rear off-road wheelset further improves grip and responsiveness. MORE RANGE. MORE FREEDOM.
Equipped with a cutting-edge 60V 40Ah high-performance lithium-ion battery pack, the Light Bee X achieves a maximum range of up to 46 miles* (75km) at 25 mph (45 km/h). Sophia Myles, who starred as Lady Penelope in the 2004 film Thunderbirds, paid a visit to the British Motor Museum on 10 March to be reunited with her iconic car. The famous pink car has been on display at the Museum since 2005 and this was the first time Sophia had seen it since the release of the film. She signed the dashboard of the FAB 1 car, making it extra special for Museum visitors who come to see it. Sophia also signed photos for fans and face-timed Ron Cook who played Lady Penelope's faithful butler and chauffeur, Parker, in the film. Afterwards she enjoyed a private tour of the Museum to view the extensive collections.
Sophia Myles, said "I had the honour of being invited to the British Motor Museum to be reunited with my FAB 1 pink car. I never thought I could get emotional about a car, but seeing it again after over 20 years, made me well up! The entire visit was a joy from start to finish. There are so many amazing vehicles to see. We were given a guided tour by Robin, which was utterly fascinating. Thank you to the entire team for giving me such a treat of a day! I cannot recommend a visit to the British Motor Museum highly enough. I will be returning for sure."
Ford of Europe’s design team brought FAB 1, the larger-than-life limousine, into the 21st century – lower, sleeker and even more grand. FAB 1 has a central part in the 2004 film Thunderbirds with International Rescue, the fictional organisation that saves the world where other forces fail. In the hands of Parker, FAB 1 can travel on land, air or sea. Inside, Lady Penelope travels in style and luxury. Sitting in her throne-like seat, she is surrounded by wood, leather, sheepskin and chrome.
Visitors to the Museum can now come and see the newly autographed famous six-wheeler for themselves. For more information about the Museum and to book tickets, please visit the website at: https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/
