  1. The British challenger disrupting the world of motorcycle clothing.

Created by the founders of Ruroc Helmets, Enginehawk is a British born brand with a clear mission to revolutionise the motorcycle industry and redefine traditional motorcycle wear.  Enginehawk celebrates first year of revolution

Celebrating one year since the brand’s inception, Enginehawk has been born from a foundation of safety, but has been built with a revolutionary flair for functionality and style, alongside its unique community-based approach to research and development.

With a disruptive mindset to push the boundaries on what motorcycle clothing can be, Enginehawk is made up of a combination of the best engineering minds from motorsport and the most creative designers and garment technicians from the fashion industry. This combined with the community-based ‘Taskforce’ initiative, sees real riders and customers play an active role in the development of every garment, from the very start.

James Kent, Design Director at Enginehawk, said: “When we started Enginehawk, there were really only two options in our market; stylish clothing that lacked adequate protection for riding, or proper motorcycle clothing that lacked everyday style. That’s the gap we aspire to fill, we want to blend that line between riding gear and everyday clothing, focussing on ‘Ride and Wear’ jackets first and foremost. Our ultimate mission with Enginehawk is to create something that you forget you’re wearing – whether that’s on or off the bike.

“Joining the Ruroc team was a dream because I love function over fashion. Most manufacturers will take inspiration from a certain style or something that’s been iconic to them, and then they work to incorporate that functionality to suit their audience. Not here. We start at understanding the core functionality of being a motorcyclist, how they’re moving and what their requirements are, then the design process takes place.”

RE-DEFINING THE INDUSTRY BENCHMARK FOR QUALITY

Inspired by its riders, Enginehawk’s core beliefs and values lie within its meticulous design process to create a product with unquestionable quality. From pinned-down collars that avoid flapping and heavy-duty zippers, to welded thermal properties and careful consideration to sleeve zip placement to avoid scratching the fuel tank – and it doesn’t stop there. The same discipline is instilled in Enginehawk’s partners: The very basics of every item are detailed with care, right down to every button being precisely aligned with the embossed logo at the same angle, every time.

Many manufacturers design using computer-aided design (CAD) technology to achieve precision and clean-cut visualisation from the offset. At Enginehawk however, every seam is created freehand to sit on the natural contours of the body, allowing for a precise, tailored finish with a free-flowing shape that’s true to how we really ride on the bike and our position on the bike, and every detail has a specific purpose to aid comfort, refine the fit or accentuate features.

What started with just three jacket designs at the start of 2021 has expanded into a full line-up of leather and textile apparel, all with that same attention to detail.

“As the excitement started building for this new brand, more and more ideas started flowing,” continued James. “But regardless of whether it’s one million or just one product, we will always put blood, sweat and passion into every design to get things right from the start. If we’re not proud of the product once it’s designed, it won’t get made.

“Even down to the unboxing experience; we want our customers to receive the product with a level of anticipation that echoes how much we love our products, so we made sure this process reflects that same level of quality and feel, amplifying the online purchase experience.”

    DUTY TO PROTECT

The very essence of motorcycle clothing is to save lives, which is why every Enginehawk product is fully approved in compliance with CE and CA certifications and is made with the highest grade materials that are abrasion- and tear-resistant, proven to hold up in a slide. Partnering with SAS-TEC, an innovative producer of body armour, all Enginehawk products come with CE-Level 1 elbow, shoulder and back protectors as standard, with the option to be upgraded to Level 2 armour.

    DRIVEN BY COMMUNITY

Aiming to bridge the gap between what it makes and what riders want, Enginehawk has built a highly engaged community of riders to listen to and learn from, making its product truly ‘rider-first’. Introducing TASKFORCE: The invitation-only group of real-life riders that, together, have built Enginehawk to what it is today.

Playing an integral role in product development, Taskforce Echo Hotel has been live since February 2021 and started with 3,000 riders that all signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) in order to be a part of something from the very start, providing their feedback and input on key decisions that shape every new Enginehawk product. Now, one year later, Taskforce Echo Hotel has nearly 25,000 active members that help to make Enginehawk products even better, shaping the future of the brand and continuing to revolutionise the world of motorcycle apparel.

  2. Following an unprecedented year for new motorcycle registrations in 2021, where the industry saw a 9% increase overall and a staggering 146% increase in electric bike registrations, Sunra UK is pleased to announce collaborations across the UK with training schools turning to EV products for training.   Zero Emission Rider Training with Sunra

With the pandemic clearly impacting on commuter habits, the motorcycle industry as a whole certainly benefited from the increased adoption of powered two-wheelers, with the majority of registration increases coming from the smaller capacity and commuter segment.

With an obvious increase in CBT and rider training uptake, proactive training schools have been keen to adapt to the new generation of rider, utilising the benefits of EV models in the training environment, with some even taking advantage of zero emissions to offer an ‘any weather’ solution to training indoors.

Logan Black of Sunra UK commented, “While the registration figures in general are clearly great news for our industry, what’s really encouraging is the adoption of EV and as a result at many training schools too. A big part of the appeal appears to be down to our products being less intimidating than ICE counterparts, but of course there are many other advantages too, including lower cost and ease of use too.”

Sunra dealers, Saltire Motorcycles, based in Edinburgh are one such dealer who have turned to EV use for their training school in conjunction with Sunra, not only seeing the general benefits of electric in the training arena, but in also offering a unique approach with an indoor training school.

Jethro Sheppard of Saltire Motorcycles commented, “The use of EV models has really hit a sweet spot for our rider training services. Not only has it made it easier for training, but using Sunra instead of petrol-powered scooters has made a significant saving in running costs for the business too. it’s also a far less intimidating first step on the motorcycling ladder and having an indoor space for training too is an absolute game changer when it comes to initially training new riders also. For us there really are no negatives to EV in this environment and it’s great to see customers go through the training and choose an electric bike themselves too.”

As the uptake in electric scooters and motorcycles continues to grow, thanks partly to the increasing emergence of Clean Air Zones across many UK cities, Sunra UK is pleased to support an ever-growing network of training schools, with many dealers running their own schools as well as supplying into the training network too. The team at Sunra UK welcome discussion with any interested training schools.

  3. #IndonesianGP qualifying. It was an emotion-filled Saturday across the whole of Gresini Racing MotoGP garage as today the Faenza-based team sees both of its riders in Q2, with Enea Bastianini to line up on row two for tomorrow’s race, while Fabio Di Giannantonio while start the second encounter of the season from the 11th spot of the grid.

Let’s start with the rider #49, who did an incredible job in making it through Q2. He was the best-placed rookie today after setting an excellent 1’31.8secs lap-time, which was only four tenths of a second shy from the front row of the Indonesian Grand Prix.

Enea Bastianini proves to be in excellent form. Even though today’s second row appears like a given, the fifth position on the grid is his so-far second-best qualifying performance in the series.

    5th - ENEA BASTIANINI #23 (1’31.504)
“We’re still not 100% ready and unfortunately this morning’s mixed conditions didn’t allow us to carry on with our work schedule as good as we’d liked. I chose not to take any unnecessary risk in FP3 and during FP4 I struggled in getting up to speed. The track improved little by little and I managed to set some good lap-times. In qualifying – if we take into account the two yellow flag situations – we cannot be but happy with fifth position. We’ll have to work hard during warm up, as we still need something extra to be really competitive.”

    11th - FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49 (1’31.829)
“I’m very happy: to get into Q2 in my second MotoGP race is a great result. We were all very happy within the pit-box and it was surely a good Saturday. I’m happy especially with the work done since Qatar. The front-end feeling has radically changed and I do notice it while on the track. I’m having fun, and results come when you’re having fun.”

  4. Bikes and bicycles have always been around as efficient and relatively cheaper modes of transportation. With the current surge in oil prices, people are moving towards electric bikes or e-bikes for their ecological transportation needs. Electric bikes are pre-equipped with electric motors to help in pedaling. While this makes the entire traditional procedure of pedaling easier, there is more than what meets the eye.

    Topmost Advantages of Electric Bikes

    Regular Exercise

People who own electric bikes tend to ride them more often than they ride other modes of transportation. Cycling has always been regarded as one of the best and easiest methods to get the right amount of exercise in a busy life schedule.

People who ride electric bikes use them for the commute daily. This provides an effective exercise regimen twice a day and keeps the body in a healthy shape and condition. It regularly revitalizes your body with energy and keeps many cardiac problems at bay.

Moreover, folks who are into sports love exercise any way they can get it.

    Eco-friendly Commute

Global warming is on the rise, and every day we are killing mother earth with more and more CO2 emissions because of the luxuries we avail. Electric bikes cut back the emission of harmful gases and keep your entire commute eco-friendly.

A commute on an electric bike keeps your body fit and protects the environment by using eco-friendly resources for pedaling, such as lithium batteries.

    Strengthen Muscles and Bones

Regular exercise and cycling also provide nourishment for the bones and muscles. This is why more and more senior citizens are opting for electric bikes. It keeps the heart young and bones healthy.

Electric bikes are heavier than the normal ones, and the amount of energy taken to pedal these bikes provides the perfect amount of strengthening exercise for all the elemental organs. It takes care of joints, bones, and muscles and increases the rider's core strength.

    Cheaper Mode of Transportation

Who among us doesn’t look for new ways to cut back on unnecessary expenses? The entire middle-class community is constantly looking for ways to increase their savings. Well, electric bike motors only cost you 5-8 cents every day, and you will only have to spend $1-$2 for an entire month. Instead of taking the long and tedious public transportation, you can not only enjoy the commute with your electric bike but also save mother Earth, nature, and your money at the same time.

    Bottom Line

With the advancements in science and the busy routine schedule of the modern era, no one has the time to work out and get the right amount of exercise daily. Electric bikes are bliss for everyone who manages a tedious and tiring daily life.  wheel-lake-e-bike-bike-water-bicycle-tour-Piqsels

  5. #IndonesianGP free practice. Team Gresini Racing MotoGP had a strong start to the Indonesian Grand Prix today as both Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio showed great speed at this long-awaited, new track on the MotoGP calendar.

Enea Bastianini managed to finish in the top five: this is a very important result, albeit things could have gone even better. A crash during what was shaping to the best lap of the day – just before the chequered flag was deployed – prevented the current championship leader to sit atop the timesheets today. The Italian rider fortunately escaped uninjured from the tumble after losing the front-end of his Ducati machine - while the stopwatch marked -0.244secs on what ended up being the fastest lap-time of the day. Fifth place is still an encouraging result, especially if it rains tomorrow morning as that would be more than enough for Bastianini to be seeded directly to Q2.

Fabio Di Giannantonio also enjoyed a very promising start to the weekend as he ended up fourteenth at the end of day one. He was the quickest of this year’s series rookies and on many occasions, he made his way into the top ten. This is exactly the goal for the rider #49 for tomorrow as tenth position is currently only 0.3secs away.

    5th - ENEA BASTIANINI #23 (1’31.921)
“We did a good job, especially in FP2. The track was quite damp this morning and we took the opportunity to work on this type of conditions as well – especially as it’s never been my best scenario. The track conditions changed in the afternoon: different grip, different tyres… I had to come up with a plan on the fly and despite a mistake towards the end, things went well. We’re still not 100% and we’ll need to make another step tomorrow – and hopefully the track will also improve. We only worked with medium tyres and soft ones for the time attack… We’ll have to try the harder option too, but today I chose to play safer.

    14th - FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49 (1’32.418)
“I’m very happy with how today went: we made a great step with the bike compared to Qatar and I found back the type of feeling I had during the first tests. We were quick with both medium and softer tyres. To tell the truth, I couldn’t put together the perfect lap with the latter, so that means I still have some margin for tomorrow’s qualifying. Now we need to work on the rear-end of the bike, but the feeling with the front-end is there and that’s important.”
