A 45 minute ride from Glasgow, followed by a ferry ride from Wemyss Bay, takes you to the magical Isle of Bute. You can also reach Bute by using a more circuitous and spectacular route by driving up past Loch Lomond and through the mountains of Argyll to the village of Colintraive, from whence a small ferry crosses the Kyles of Bute to Rhubodach on the north of the island. A scenic coastal road takes you south on the island to Rothesay. From here enjoy dramatic scenery from here north to Inveraray, Oban and onto Fort William.
