  1. 'LIVE' In The Deep South: Silver Jubilee Tour

    Posted on

2019 is H-C Travel's Silver Jubilee year - we've been organising tours around the world since 1994!

To celebrate, let us take you to the very soul of American music and along some of the twistiest roads in the world. We've a very special 15 day motorcycle adventure for you 'LIVE' In The Deep South from Nashville to New Orleans.

We’ll ride America’s most famous stretch of road – the Tail of the Dragon – so good we ride it twice... Along the way is some impressive scenery – the Great Smoky Mountains, Cumberland Falls State Park and the mighty Mississippi River and Delta.

We'll be submersed in blues, country, jazz, bluegrass, R’n’B, rock and roll, rockabilly and all shades in between.

Your guide, Marc Sloan, is looking forward to taking you on this ride down musical memory lane. Here's a quick video intro from Marc

  2. Sat nav v maps

    Posted on

I used to like the idea of being spontaneous and also did not fancy using a sat nav however once you have tried to get a room somewhere to find you cannot get one as they are full due to a local festival, over priced (Italy circa 2001, 11 pm in a roadside motel style @ €175 comes to mind) , you cannot find one (sounds strange I know but there are miles and miles of nothing in parts of Germany - well apart from excellent scenery) and to book into somewhere and find it awful, we now do as above - i.e. find a final destination and plan route around it.

We use a combination of Biker Friendly accommodation on www.thebikerguide.co.uk and if there is nothing in the area we want we also look on booking.com.

We did a trip a couple of years ago with the final destination being Colditz Castle, which you can stay in. Went in July for 3 ish weeks with everything booked, set into sat nav and you know what - thank goodness as it rained everyday but one. We would set off with the next place in the sat nav - take off route when we wanted and arrive at destination stress free.

We stayed at some great places, travelled fantastic roads and routes, ate well, found our way easy even with the many roadwork diversions and would pass by others at the side of the road battling with a big wet soggy map to find their way. We did also pack a map as back-up or to look at a vaster area on a larger scale, however we are happy to say it return dry and not soggy.

I think once you have used a sat nav on a big trip which gets you to destinations easy, gets you out of a diversion and back on route, helps you navigate/find food and petrol, you wonder what you did before the United States military released the technology for GPS!

  3. The third Isabena Rallye - 2 Days of Fun!

    Posted on

On the 1st - 2nd September 2018, the third Isabena Rallye will take place, around the beautiful Isabena Valley. Isabena Rallye 2018, Aragon, Spain, BMW
It doesn’t matter if you drive a Enduro motorcycle, a sport motorcycle or a touring motorcycle or how much experience you have. The slogan of the rallye is: 2 Days of Fun!

The rallye is for motorcycles only and the participant will ride mostly on paved roads.

Further more we will organize some special tests as well as some off-road sections which will require your skills, but also require a pinch of luck. Perfect are motorcycles with which you can easily ride a 200km day trip through this unique part of the Pyrenees, as well as a few kilometers on simple off-road tracks.

The rallye will be organized in a way so that you can finish in a good position even if you don’t like to ride the off-road sections or the special test.
For the final we will set up another tricky challenge with our own off-road motorcycle for the top riders.
