Tomlinsons Café and Bunkhouse
Located in an historic former schoolhouse in the rural town of Rothbury overlooking the River Coquet, serving wholesome, hearty breakfasts, lunches and light evening meals. Homemade from local, in-season produce wherever possible, the menu gives visitors a delicious taste of Northumberland. Surrounded by some of the best livestock producers in the UK and close to the coast with its delicious haul of seafood fresh from the North Sea.
The upstairs bunkhouse has quirky original features mixed with contemporary, bright interiors, which echo the colours of the surrounding countryside. Ideal for groups and independent travellers, with five dormitory-style bedrooms, including double, single, family or bunk beds rooms. A communal lounge and big windows that give big views overlooking the river and countryside. A perfect base to explore Northumberland’s great outdoors, enjoy the spectacular scenery and to discover the many other attractions of England’s most northerly county, including the imposing yet tranquil Cheviot Hills, the golden sands of the Northumberland Coast, Farne Islands, Alnwick Castle and the world Heritage site of Hadrian’s Wall. In beautiful countryside, between Greenhead and Haltwhistle, just off the A69 a fabulous venue for Bikers to head to for excellent food and a warm ambience, overlooking the Heritage site of Blenkinsopp Castle. Renovated by the owners, Carol and Gary Stirling, into a pub and bistro, function room, an open Mic Event every third Sunday of the Month from 7pm to 10.30pm and various live music events.
Using a seasonal selection of local produce, for breakfast, lunch, daily specials, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, Sunday Roasts, Fish & Chips and a special bespoke High Tea menu. A traditional bar, with wooden beams and a roaring open fire, with a good selection of Beers, wine and bottled local real ales.
