  1. The BMF Tailend Show Rocked and Rolled! – (despite the rain)

    Posted on

Despite the ever changeable British weather (yet again) the BMF Tailend was still a successful show organiser’s The Mulberry Group said. “Despite the dismal Friday evening weather plus Sunday’s rain and wind, the show atmosphere was not dampened – The Vertical Trix World Stunt competition ran all weekend (until the rain on Friday evening made it unsafe to do so), the bands on the main stage were all brilliant and on Saturday evening Alvin Stardust had the place packed”

Mulberry’s Martin Chick reported that “Once again the good old British weather conspired against us and the exhibitors and as a result the numbers were somewhat lower than we had hoped for but those who did attend were certainly buying with some very brisk sales reported by a number of traders”.

“The Vertical Trix World stunt competition was very well received and the competitors were really amazing.

We were also very pleased to welcome Dave Hailwood, who brought his father’s (Mike Hailwood) Honda RC 181 which won him championships in ’65 ’66 and ’67” and rode it into the arena on Sunday so everyone got to see and hear a piece of real history”

The Tailend show was also the end point for Paul Newman who had undertaken a 4,000 mile trip using only A, B and costal roads and the trip was to raise money for the National Autistic Society – a fantastic feat and Paul was joined on the ride in by Alvin Stardust who is an NAS ambassador.

The BMF Tailend Show was the last opportunity for show-goers to buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win a place on Riders for Health’s incredible motorcycle adventure ride to Zambia in May 2014. For just £1, people could win the trip of a lifetime worth £4,800 and see how motorcycles are saving lives across Africa.     The winning ticket was drawn at 3.15pm on Sunday by former grand prix rider and British road race champion, Keith Huewen and the winner was Mr Colin Baines who will no doubt be preparing for next May already!

The dates for next year’s BMF Shows are: BMF May Show 16-18 May BMF Kelso Bikefest 4-6 July BMF Tailend 12-14 September

  3. AUTOJUMBLERS REVEL IN THE FIELDS OF NETLEY

    Posted on

FROM engines and oil to tyres and tinware, keen motorcyclists have been uncovering the bargains at yet another successful outing for one of Europe’s top autojumble events.

The 20th Carole Nash Eurojumble, held on Friday and Saturday, September 6-7, saw several thousand visitors descend on Netley Marsh near Southampton as they picked their way through nearly 300 trade and autojumble plots.

Nick Mowbray, exhibition manager at organising team Classic Bike Shows, said: “It has been a superb two days for the Eurojumble, the traders, the visitors and Netley Marsh.”

The ever popular event saw traditional autojumble items such engine parts, frames and tyres being snapped up for rock bottom prices, as well as a number of complete motorcycles on offer ranging from £100 to over £10,000.

“Tyres and wheels sound like they should be easy to find, but when we are talking about the classic motorcycle market it becomes bit trickier,” added Nick.

“That’s the driving force behind the Eurojumble; there are things here that you just can’t get anywhere else.”

Some of the more popular buys included a sidecar and mini moto machines.

On top of the successful two days for traders, local bars, restaurants and hotels saw the benefits with show-goers coming from far and wide to uncover the array of hidden treasures and fantastic deals.

“Because of what the Eurojumble can offer, motorcycle enthusiasts come from all over the UK to Netley in search of parts, pieces and bikes.

“And, with channel crossings not too far away, we also see many visitors from mainland Europe too.”

With the show now moving into its third decade, Netley Marsh can look forward to welcoming the Eurojumble in 2014 and beyond.

The Classic Bike Shows team will next be in action at the massive Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show in Stafford in October.

  5. Motorcycle Live to subsidise NEC car parking fee

    Posted on

Visitors to Motorcycle Live 2013 will benefit from reduced car parking costs as a result of an initiative by the show organisers to subsidise The NEC’s standard fee.

The cost of parking a car for one day at The NEC during Motorcycle Live will now be £8 per vehicle, representing a £2 saving on the venue’s normal fee, which was increased to £10 per vehicle in 2012. For visitors arriving at the show by motorcycle, secure, indoor parking remains free of charge.

“Over the past few years we have worked hard to provide a show experience that provides excellent value-for-money,” explains Finlay McAllan, Managing Director of show organisers MCI Exhibitions. “We offer our visitors over 200 exhibitor stands and 16 live features, including eight opportunities to ride a bike, all within the ticket price. In our 2012 feedback, car parking fees set by The NEC were cited as the biggest bugbear for visitors and therefore, as part of our ongoing aim to provide value-for-money, we’ve taken the decision to do what we can to alleviate those costs by offering a £2 subsidy.”

Motorcycle Live takes place at The NEC from 23 November to 1 December. Every major manufacturer will be present, showcasing the 2014 model launches in the UK for the first time. There will also be a daily dose of famous biking faces and racing stars from MotoGP, World Superbike, British Superbike and the Isle of Man TT, all taking part in fan meet-and-greets and on-stage game shows and Q&As with racers-turned-broadcasters Steve Parrish and James Whitham.

Advance tickets for Motorcycle Live 2013 are just £17 per adult, £11 for Seniors and £7 for children aged 6-16* (kids under five accompanied by a paying adult go free). To book you tickets, call 0844 581 2345 or visit www.motorcyclelive.co.uk
