Route to road safety through great entertainment (February 18, 2010)

The annual RideSafe Rendezvous will again be held in Blackpool, Lancashire, with the aim of providing a great day of entertainment and a wealth of sound advice about road safety and rider training options for motorcycle and scooter riders of all ages.

The event is organised by RideSafe BackSafe, a dedicated road safety initiative that is run ‘by bikers, for bikers’ and it is expected to draw enthusiasts from across the North West and beyond.

Features will include a main stunt arena hosting internationally-known motorcycle stunt rider Craig Jones and precision stunt driver Paul Swift, together with exhibitors, retailers, motorbike displays, slow riding demonstrations and live music. Honda UK will be there to train and entertain 5 to 11 year olds with their ‘My First Licence’ Scheme and advanced riding instructors will be on hand to offer free advice to the more experienced riders.

RideSafe BackSafe Communications Manager, Linda Sanderson explains, “This event has grown every year since 2006 and could attract more than 10,000 visitors on a single day. We don’t charge for parking or show entry, so it really is a ‘free for all bikers’ and the mix of stunt shows, music, retail stands and dedicated advice works well“.

Event organisers hope to encourage many motorcycle and scooter riders to take up voluntary rider training, or at least have their riding skills assessed this summer and believe this type of event is the best way to inspire the most vulnerable of road users.

The fifth annual RideSafe Rendezvous will be held at Central Car Parks in Blackpool between 10am and 5pm on Sunday 25th April.
