  1. The new Touratech catalogue: The whole world of adventure riding

    Posted on

Touratech presents the 2016 2,020-page catalogue with hundreds of new products...
Bigger than ever, packed full of products and featuring tons of new items, Touratech presents the world’s largest accessory catalogue for adventure riding. It contains custom-made equipment and parts to suit many models that will soon enliven the 2016 season. The new Touratech catalogue - The whole world of adventure riding

One of these is the Honda CRF 1000 L Africa Twin, a bike that has sparked the urge to travel in a whole generation of adventurers. With over 20 years of experience in developing and manufacturing special parts for the Africa Twin, Touratech has an extensive portfolio lined up for the long-awaited successor. From GPS mounting adapters to the Zega pannier system, every desire is fulfilled. Plus there is an exclusive report on the first Touratech test drive with the reborn ‘Desert Queen’.

Bikes other than the classic touring enduro have inspired the motorcycle accessory specialists from Niedereschach as well – such as the Ducati Scrambler and the BMW S 1000 XR – and of course there are more interesting new developments for nearly every motorbike model.

Because both the bike and its rider need reliable equipment on the road, Touratech has significantly expanded the riding gear section: the AVENTURO Mod combines the advantages of flip-up and off road helmets, the COMPAÑERO World2 is an enhanced version of the tried-and-tested touring suit, and the DESTINO Adventure is Touratech’s first very own motorcycle boot. All are the result of tens of thousands of kilometres of touring experience. This same expertise has also gone into developing ‘Touratech Waterproof made by Ortlieb’. Another example of European manufacturing quality, this line of waterproof motorcycle luggage products is available now exclusively from Touratech.

With all of this and much more, including great photos and travel stories, Touratech’s 2016/2017 catalogue makes an enticing read: the new Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro and Ducati Scrambler go on a test tour to Albania, Simon and Lisa Thomas (2 Ride The World) report on their round-the-world journey – now twelve years long – and Dirk Schäfer completes his preliminary Iron Butt trial on the 1,000-kilometre Touratech bike.

To help readers navigate through this mammoth publication, the catalogue includes a detailed index and a clearly structured table of contents. The first section is dedicated to special parts for specific motorbikes, with individual models sorted alphabetically and in descending order of engine size. It is followed by sections on the cockpit, luggage, seats, the new windscreens, Touratech Suspension and universal motorcycle accessories. Finally there are rider equipment, navigation and outdoor sections.

Two hundred thousand copies of the 2016/2017 Touratech catalogue with its 2,020 pages have been printed in five different languages and will be available at all major trade shows and events where Touratech is represented, as well as from Touratech distributors.

Copies can be ordered by telephone, e-mail or via the internet – free of charge, as always and the catalogue is also available online at www.touratech.com

  2. Touratech Presents Range of Accessories for the New Africa Twin

    Posted on

It’s not only Honda fans who have waited a long time for this: the CRF 1000 L Africa Twin, a reinterpretation of the legendary XRV 750, which was based on Honda’s successful Dakar bikes. At EICMA 2015, exactly one year on from the presentation of the highly regarded prototype at the fair, the new Honda flagship celebrated its launch – as did the Touratech accessories for it.

Touratech Presents Range of Accessories for the New Africa TwinHonda called the project “True Adventure” – after all, the Africa Twin sparked the urge to travel in a whole generation of adventurers, and still has a loyal community of fans. A motorbike that invented the adventure segment in 1988 and now wants to win it back is certain to attract the interest of Touratech’s R&D department. Touratech has more than 20 years of experience in developing and manufacturing accessories for the Africa Twin. So it comes as little surprise that Touratech can present an extensive range of accessories for the new Africa Twin.

Special custom parts for the reborn cult bike include tried-and-tested Touratech pannier systems in various sizes and variants, topcase and topcqase rack, an aluminium luggage rack, GPS mounting adapter, *Works* long-distance foot pegs, and a handlebar riser that significantly eases the strain on your shoulders and wrists.

Stainless steel crash bars and engine crash bar, side stand base extension, headlight protector, auxiliary lights and the robust *Expedition* engine guard make the Africa Twin ready for any adventure. And of course Touratech offers seats with a choice of versions, plus extensive soft luggage solutions.

The complete range of accessories for the CRF 1000 L Africa Twin appears in the new Touratech catalogue, which comes out in January 2016, and will be available in the Touratech web shop at shop.touratech.com.

  3. Ortlieb motorbike luggage: Touratech becomes sole distributor

Ortlieb motorbike luggage: Touratech becomes sole distributorWaterproof bags by Ortlieb are extremely resilient, completely watertight and an essential companion on many motorbike tours. All motorbike luggage by the Middle Franconian manufacturer will now be marketed exclusively under the name “Touratech Waterproof made by Ortlieb”. The rack-packs, saddle bags and tank bags will be available via motorcycle equipment specialists Touratech, based in Niedereschach, as well as through other dealers in Germany and worldwide via Touratech’s distributor network.

Established in 1982 at Heilsbronn in the Ansbach district of Bavaria, Ortlieb Sportartikel GmbH have made a name for themselves with high-quality outdoor equipment. Their products are used wherever waterproofing is essential, such as on the way to the office – or on a wilderness adventure. There are solid reasons for Touratech to become the sole distributor of Ortlieb’s motorcycle line. As previously with Adventure Rack Packs, the product range is being further optimised for motorcyclists in close collaboration with Ortlieb, and new developments added. These include packsacks and saddle bags, tank bags, water bags, document bags, outer pockets and many more. “Touratech Waterproof made by Ortlieb” is a brand that combines Ortlieb’s experience in manufacturing waterproof equipment with Touratech’s expertise in adventure touring.

A love of adventure unites the two companies, which have followed parallel paths in many ways. Like Touratech, Ortlieb’s first products came about through a personal need to develop equipment for individual use that didn’t exist before. For Touratech founder Herbert Schwarz, it was the IMO 200T motorcycle computer and homemade aluminium panniers. For Hartmut Ortlieb, it was waterproof saddle bags, made from lorry tarpaulins, for cycling trips. Both companies have an impressive history of success. They attach the utmost importance to “quality made in Germany”, and house all departments – from development and production to sales and marketing – at their headquarters.

“I am delighted that we can offer this additional range of products under the Touratech brand. ‘Touratech Waterproof made by Ortlieb’ is precisely tailored to motorcyclists’ requirements,” says Touratech sales manager Martin Wickert. “We see obvious advantages in partnering exclusively with market leader Ortlieb in this segment, and pooling the knowledge of both firms in the interests of our customers.”
Ortlieb employs 170 people and offers a range of more than 500 individual items. All waterproof original ORTLIEB products are manufactured in a high-frequency welding process directly at the company’s headquarters in Heilsbronn.

  5. United People of Adventure: Discover Madagascar with Touratech

    Posted on

Have you ever dreamed of exploring an exotic island on a motorbike? This dream could now come true. Under the slogan "United People of Adventure", Touratech founder Herbert Schwarz and his wife Ramona invite motorcycle travellers from six continents to join them on an adventure ride on the Island of Madagascar - of course on fully equipped Touratech bikes and with the appropriate riding gear. If you don't want to miss this once in a lifetime chance, please apply online with a short video (in English language).

Madagascar is the fourth biggest island in the world and enthrals with its unique flora and fauna, impressive landscapes and cultural diversity. This will also play an important role in the "United People of Adventure" project, as the name says it all: Each one of the six team members comes from another continent, so motorbike travellers from Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America as well as Oceania / Australia will join the Touratech crew in April 2016.

"We're looking for fellow riders who share - even though they speak different languages, have different skills and talents and come from different cultural backgrounds - the love for adventure riding beyond the well-trodden paths of tourism", Ramona and Herbert Schwarz point out. The team will be accompanied by an experienced film and photographer crew which were already part of many Touratech journeys in the past: TV journalist Wolfgang Danner, cinematographer Jan-Peter Sölter, photographer Jon Beck, actor and producer Kurt Yaeger and journalist Jonathan Bentman will capture this adventure on film.

It is all about adventure and team spirit. So don't expect pre-booked hotel rooms or defined routes, but sand and gravel, mud and water instead. The riders will get to know the Madagascan way of life, make unforgettable experiences and explore one of the most fascinating islands on the best adventure bikes currently available: Upon arrival at the airport in Antanarivo, a BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, a F 800 GS Adventure, a Ducati Multistrada, a Honda Africa Twin 1000, a KTM 1190 Adventure, a Suzuki DL 1000 V-Strom, a Triumph Tiger 800 XCx and a Yamaha Super Ténéré Worldcrosser will be waiting for the team members - all equipped and provided by Touratech. Touratech will also provide the complete riding gear and pays for the flight tickets, there will be no costs for the participants.

Riders who would like to join this adventure ride in April 2016 are asked to upload a three minute video in English language explaining what makes them a perfect team member for "United People of Adventure". Deadline for the application is December 15th 2015. In the first selection phase two candidates from each continent will be chosen and invited to Niedereschach where they meet with Ramona and Herbert Schwarz. In this personal meeting they will figure out who fits their team the best.

The six lucky “chosen ones” will be announced in February 2016. Please find all the information and conditions of participation at www.real-adv.com. More pictures and videos can be found at #realADV.
